The Venetian VS The Palace at Somerset Park

Hi again,
I just posted before about tastings prior to booking a venue. I'm actually looking primarily at two venues-The Palace at Somerset Park and the Venetian. Both are amazing but neither one offers tastings prior to booking. The Venetian doesn't even offer it at all. I'm completely in love with both but just cannot imagine not sampling the food prior. I've heard great things about both. Is anyone having their wedding at either that can help? Also, any feedback on anything else pertaining to these two places would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

I attended a wedding at the Venetian and really enjoyed the food. They have an amazing cocktail hour!

I haven't heard anything negative about The Venetian. The food is supposedly delicious.

I love the decor of the Palace at Somerset. The Venetian is a bit much for me and I don't really like the location of it. I think there's a few girls on here getting married at the Palace that can chime in a bit more. I can't think of anyone getting married at the venetian that posts here lately.

The Venitian is way too over the top for my liking BUT if that's what you're going for, this is your place. They put on some show and the food is out of this world, I've been there twice. Both times I enjoyed my dish and cocktail hour fully.

I went to a wedding at the Venetian and thought the food was amazing! My favorite part was the Viennese table.

I got married last night at the Palace! It was beyond my wildest dreams and I am going to post reviews and pics soon... right now we are trying to rebook our honeymoon because of hurricanes in the Carribean.

The Palace offered a tasting for $250 (for 6 people) which is credited towards a booking. My HUSBAND (yay!) is a huge foodie and food was the #1 reason we chose the Palace, so we didn't do the tasting. Like PP, the Venetian is gorgeous but a little too over the top for us, and we weren't a fan of the road the Venetian sits on. The Palace was also flexible with the menu and allowed us to make changes.

It was spectacular, breathtaking, amazing... It's up to you - I don't think you can go wrong either way!

I used to live right behind The Venetian and I've gone to a few parties there and the food has always been exceptional. The town is putting a lot of money into making the rest of the area around it look as nice as it does but it's going to take some time. It's a beautiful place inside and out

Ditto. I went to a wedding there; it was a little too much for my taste, but the cocktail hour food especially was excellent. Also, staff seemed like they were really on top of things.

Another Palace bride here! I got married on July 15th. I started my reviews, and have been meaning to finish and post them. The Palace wowed me in every way possible. I've actually worked in the hospitality industry for 10 years and have seen hundreds of weddings, so I was extremely picky about my reception venue. The Palace exceeded all my expectations.

We didn't consider the Venetian because it was too over the top for us.

And CONGRATS Giaspo!!! I'm so glad you're wedding was amazing, even thought I already knew it would be!! :o)
Welcome to the MG side!!!!

I would pick The Palace. Did you look at The Stonehouse also?
• edited December 2011
Oh boy! I'm not sure if this made it harder to choose! lol. It sounds like both are going to be satisfying to the taste buds Smile I'm leaning towards The Palace since they have fireworks packages which the Venetian doesn't have.

Thanks so much for the feedback ladies. I feel reassured whichever way we go, we won't be disappointed!

The Venetian is wonderful - never went to the Palace for an event, but heard great things.

My only disappointment in the Venetian was that the wait staff takes your dinner away when you're not looking. I purposely stuck my fork in my salmon so that he would see that I clearly wasn't finished. I turned my head away for a second to say hello to someone, and when I turned back to my salmon, it was gone! I was very angry!!!!!
