Band vs. Orchestra???

Hello- I wonder if any of you have debated on having a band vs an orchestra at your reception? We have reached out to a band (Maggie Speaks) and orchestras (David Rothstein, Dan Hayes, etc) All have fabulous reviews. I know both will keep people on the dance floor all night. I think a band would be better and more authentic with the contemporary music, but an orchestra will have  multi instruments and be able to play the older "big band" music better. I really can't decide and am so torn. What do you think?

    Band would keep your dance floor hopping all night. I voted for band!

    I think you are kind of confused. The Stitely Orchestra, the entertainment we are having for our reception IS a band.

    They do Frank Sinatra, Lady Gaga, and EVERYTHING in between.

    People hear "orchestra" and think violins and no popular music.  So wrong!

    No I know, I undertand that the "orchestra" plays contermporary music. The Stitely Orchestra is great I have attended weddings that they have played and were awesome! Maggie Speaks has a little more "rock" feel then bands/orchestra (however you want to call them), and they don't have the 10 pc band  (or however many pieces you decide!) that comes with someone like a Stitely so it's just a bit of a different feel and I can't decide which to go for at all!

    I guess I just don't understand why when given the choice, you would choose a band that plays "rock" music over one that plays everything?  Why limit your guests?

    I voted for orchestra. I agree with what Penelope just said. And on top of that, I really don't like Maggie Speaks, having seen them at a lot of festivals and been overall unimpressed by them. 

    What is your first dance song? Will a rock band make it sound romantic?

    Maggie Speaks will be playing at our wedding!! We actually priced out maybe 2 or 3 other bands/orchestras, and Maggie Speaks was the lower priced one and all my friends have seen them before and it is always a good time. Let me know what you decide, I'm curious if anyone else has used them before too!
