How much cake? And cake boxes?

The venue for our wedding includes desserts with the dinner.  For our wedding cake, do I want to order enough for a slice for everyone?  How about cake boxes - enough for 1 for everyone?   Thanks, gals!

Re: How much cake? And cake boxes?

  • If you're ordering a cake, then yes you should plan on enough so each guest gets a slice.  If you're worried about the cost of this, you can do a small tiered cake for cutting/pictures and have a sheet cake or two as well to be cut  and served.
And I've never heard of "cake boxes".  Do you mean like a "to-go" container for guests to bring their slice home?

  • If you are serving the cake at the reception, you should probably only need cake boxes for half the guests (assuming you don't know that all your guests expect to take a piece home).
