Are you in bc? What kind? I am currently on Lutera, a generic brand of avianne.
Do you like it?For the most part, yes. I am actually pretty bad about taking it regularly. Kinda like the way I am with these daily polls, eh? Sometimes I don't remember until 14 hours later. One of these days, I'm going to be very upset about my mistakes. Better get back on track.
Are you planning on having kids? when?We are, but not for another 4-5 years. I want to actually do something with my life.
What are you most scared about when it comes to children/pregnancy?Definitely the childbirth part. Also, I know I'm not ready to have a baby when my biggest concern is pooping in front of the doctor and not having a clean bikini line. I know they see it everyday, but hey, I know that I am not mature enough to think about a baby when I'm thinking about how my own hoo hoo looks to a random stranger.
If you're not a baby person, what do you and your DH/FI plan to do after getting hitched and settled? Until we have babies, we're going to travel, work, and enjoy the life with a puppy. Puppy is coming soon since it was promised to be over 3 years ago.

Are you in bc? What kind? No, but I need to be. Right now we just use condoms.

Do you like it? No. I really want to get my period regulated and have some backup, but I had some weird migraine issues a little while back and my doctor wouldn't give it to me until I saw a neurologist, which I haven't had time for yet.

Are you planning on having kids? when? Not for at least five years. Once we get tired of walking around the house naked all day, then we'll think about kids.

What are you most scared about when it comes to children/pregnancy? The havoc it wreaks on your body. I'm a total wuss, I don't want to do it. I'd rather just rip out all the plumbing now and adopt when we're ready, but FI wants to pass on his genes at least once. *sigh*

If you're not a baby person, what do you and your DH/FI plan to do after getting hitched and settled? Actually follow through on these various business ventures that we have in mind. We've got movies to make and restaurants to open.

Do you like it? I don't mind it, I'm pretty religious about taking it at the same time every day and all that. I pretty much didn't want to deal with the ring or the shot, and I always secretly think women that advocate the "rhythym method" are looking to get preggers, but don't want to admit it to their "not-so-child-ready" H's.

Are you planning on having kids? when? We keep going back and forth on this ... we at least want to get through the first year of marriage before dealing with the idea of pregnancy. After that, eventually (Could be the exact year mark, could be 5 years from now), we're going to have to make the decision for me to go off the pill and let nature take it's course.

What are you most scared about when it comes to children/pregnancy? What doesn't scare me about pregnancy? I'm scared of the shots, I'm scared of labor, I'm scared of finding out that it's triplets or something, I'm scared of actually raising the kid if I manage to get it out ... If there was a pain-free (And not expensive) way to get my eggs out, I'd be all for a test-tube baby.

If you're not a baby person, what do you and your DH/FI plan to do after getting hitched and settled? Like I said, we're waiting at least a year before even seriously discussing having children. We want to enjoy being a young married couple, being able to just go away for the weekend on a whim, having sex on the kitchen floor without getting walked in on or hearing "WAAAAAAHHHH...." on a baby monitor, being able to just buy something expensive and not have to think if it's cutting into the food and diaper fund. If it turns out we can't conceive (If we decide to have kids) we might adopt or just enjoy having neices and nephews (That can be given back when they're bad, lol).

Do you like it? It has its pluses.

Are you planning on having kids? when? Not for several years.

What are you most scared about when it comes to children/pregnancy? Three things.
1. Finances. I want to be in a position where I can save for the child, travel with them, pay for college, etc.
2. My kid becoming an obnoxious, disrespectful teenager.
3. The damage to my body. I'm scared of becoming incontinent, torn up, or having a permanent sack of fat on my belly. I'm ashamed to admit that one. It's my child - I need to get over it. Having children means sacrifice on all sides.

If you're not a baby person, what do you and your DH/FI plan to do after getting hitched and settled? My fiance and I are very career oriented - we're both trying to become independant and successful first.

Are you on bc? What kind? Nope,. just condoms now. Religiously.

Do you like it? I'm ok with condoms. I thought I was ok with Ortho-lo, Alesse, the Patch, and Nuva Ring, but it turns out they were causing me to have really high cholesterol.

Are you planning on having kids? when? I am open to concieving on the honeymoon. FI is good with that too. He said that if i got pregnant now, I could have the baby before the wedding and still possibly fit in my dress. I, however, am not interested in that possibility. We will have been living together for over 3 years by the time we get married, so we are pretty much settled.

What are you most scared about when it comes to children/pregnancy? Losing weight after the birth. I know that sounds selfish, but I am really active and still overweight and have had body image issues all my life.

If you're not a baby person, what do you and your DH/FI plan to do after getting hitched and settled? Not applicable. We are baby people.

Do you like it? It works. I've been on some form of the pill for 9 years now because of awful cramps/heavy period... so I'm sort of scared to go off it.

Are you planning on having kids? when? Yesss. I plan to go off the BC the day we get back from the honeymoon. From there, we hope to get pregnant soon after. We have been ready for some time to have kids, and are just waiting until after the HM to start. I'd go off at the wedding, but I don't want to deal with crazy period/cramp pains on the wedding day/HM.

What are you most scared about when it comes to children/pregnancy? Honestly I'm not scared... I'm really excited to be pregnant, to give birth, and to become a mother. I guess my only fear is how the world will be when they grow up.

Stina, it's apparently where you "chart your cycle" and just schedule sexy time when you're not ovulating. Which I just see way too much room for error on this (Or just easy to manipulate in favor of baby-making), so when I hear that that's the only BC a couple is using, but they "both really don't want kids", I'm always secretly thinking "Oh, she wants them. She just doesn't want you to know that" ... I'm a terrible person, lol

... but at the same time, I don't know a single couple that's used this IRL where it was successful for more than the first few months (Which is conveniently enough time to convince the guy "that this really works") before the girl was peeing on sticks and seeing the little pink line.

It's true ... friends of ours that were using just "the rhythym method" actually just found out that sure enough, she's pregnant. It's funny that he's shocked by this, because just 2 days before they got married (Back in June) he pretty much had a "meeting of the minds" where he pretty much said to all of his friends "Listen, she wants kids. Like tomorrow. We're not ready for this. So I want all of you to just please make it a point to talk about how much work and money babies are in front of her, because we really can't do this for a few more years". Well, she said "Fine, but we're using the RM, because I don't like how I feel on the pill and condoms don't feel good". And now she's due before their 1st anniversary.

Eh. I'm thinking of switching back to Yasmin. Yes, despite all the class action suit commercials. I had a better temperament while on it.

Nope, never. Being an aunt is perfect for me!

Pain, 24/7 lifelong obligation, a zillion things.

We're doing it already. We talk to each other, hang out with each other. We have a dog & 3 cats, plus a 75 gallon saltwater tank with corals & fish to care for. We travel, visit friends, throw parties and attend them. He's in IT, so he built my law website and face painting website. He helps me with the face painting stuff too, acts as my line manager at fairs and things. And we started a business - Reef Botanicals - making soap, scrubs, candles, and stuff. Many evenings, we're at the kitchen table, chatting and cooking up a new batch of soap or a new sugar scrub recipe, researching bath bombs, pouring candles. We've got more than enough to do and honestly not enough hours to do it in!

There's a book out that women swear by. Natural family planning is a lot more scientific than it used to be. You take your temperature and check your secretions (gross!) and stuff. It's pretty much the opposite of TTC. I know a few women who have been doing it for a couple of years now, and have been really sucessful. Back in our mothers' day, it was "don't do it days 8-14 after your period." That's where my sister came from. Either way, it's not for me.

I love it. I don't have to think about it at all. It stays there for 5 years. Also, I haven't had a period since the first month I got it. Best side effect ever. The cost to get it was actually less than half of what I'd pay in co-pays for the pill over 5 years, too.

Nope. Never.

What are you most scared about when it comes to children/pregnancy?

Having kids living in my house. Ick!

Well, we've been married a little over 6 months, so we're fairly settled in. We're both focusing on our careers for now. Our next big goal is to buy a house, and after that we'd like to devote the time and money we don't have to spend on kids on travelling. I want to see the world.

Stina, the rhythem method is when a woman avoids sex during the exact same period during her cycle without checking other factors (such as basal body temp and/or cervical mucus and position). If you just go by the monthly rhythm without checking anything else, it's not reliable at all. My FIL refers to people who use the rhthym method as "parents".

However NFP or Natural Family Planning is something that can work but it does require more detailed effort other than just knowing the dates on a calendar.

To answer your questions:

Are you in bc? What kind? Not anymore. I was on the pill for years but I began to hate the physiological changes my body was having so I went off it last year and DH and I used condoms exclusively. Now we're just in a "what happens" mode.

Do you like it? Now? Yes and no. It's great not to worry about it but I've got bigger issues (below).

Are you planning on having kids? when? We'll start "trying" more aggressively in 2010 but it's going to involve some Dr. visits as I've recently been informed that I have a fertility problem.

What are you most scared about when it comes to children/pregnancy? Aside from problems that affect my health/health of my children? Oh....I'll make a list one day!

Meg, it's unfortunate if your friend didn't do her homework.

NFP is a lot of work by both partners. DH wasn't into it because he says, and I quote, "I already know how NOT to have sex."

The point is that you need to observe constantly your cycle when using NFP. To actually use rhythm means that neither one of them did their homework.

Nope, Yaz is a "different" kind of hormone pill, and it's the one that has all these law suits, and all those commercials to "clear a few things up".

Yasmin is different, and the generic brand for that, is what I take, Ocella. Yaz currently does not have a generic brand of medicine. Yasmin (Ocella) is perfectly fine still.

Yaz is the one that they talk about that it may help with PMDD and all this other crap. I stay away from weird hormone pills.

Banana, honestly, I know she was TTC while he wasn't on board. And the few other people I know that it's happened to, it was pretty much the same story: publicly, the couple as a unit were issueing the "oh, we're waiting a while before kids" statement, while privately the woman was wanting a baby.

I'm all for people going for NFP if they actually take it seriously (With the tempuratures and secretion samples). But people who just say "Oh, I'm probably not ovulating because I always get my period on this day" (Which is essentially what I'm seeing RM people do) are either delusional or have "alterior motives".

And I definitely wish you all the best in your TTC efforts!

I totally don't get this either. I have an "friend" that secretly went off the pill (but told like 12 people after the fact) to get pregnant so her BF would marry her. They're married now and the baby is here, and she's constantly complaining on FB that he wants to go out with his friends everyone weekend and doesn't want to stay home with her. Well gee, I wonder why...

I don't know why women pull crap like secretly going off the pill or TTC without the guy's knowledge ... when or if I want a baby, I'm going to be honest with FI about it, just like I'd like him to tell me if he ever starts thinking he's ready.

But if I decide I'm ready and FI's not on board, I'm not going to do anything on purpose that might "force" him to change his mind, I'd maybe work harder to convince him we were ready for it, but I would never dream of trying to bring a child into this world without him being on board with the idea.

Hell, I always used to tell FI if we got pregnant pre-wedding/engagement I probably would have spent the rest of my life thinking he only married me because of the baby, whether or not it was the real reason.

Which, as of right now, I'm pretty sure we're "safe" this month, so I'm still walking down the aisle Friday night, lol.

Yeah, this is the issue I'm having with the Femcon - bad mood swings, and I'm pretty sure it's wreaking havoc on my sex drive. I'm not happy with it.
