Texas-Dallas and Ft. Worth

New on here.. Starting the planning process!

Hello everyone! My name is SarahI just got engaged last night, yay! So I'm starting the planning! I'm just jumping in instead of lurking first, we have a pretty short engagement so I'd love suggestions. I love the rustic look of places like the cotton mill in McKinney, but I'm on a budget and it's going to be a smaller wedding so something smaller would be great if someone knows other good places. My two main things I want to spend money on is a photographer and the venue. So suggestions on photographers are very welcome! I hate being in front of the camera so I need someone that will invest the time to get to know me a little and let me get comfortable with him/her. If you know of a fabulous photographer under $5,000 that would be fantastic! I'm very picky about style, but hopefully I'll find someone I love!

    Welcome and congratulations!

I LOVED my photographer Lynn Michelle.  Since you have a bigger budget I am going to list some others on the higher end:
    Joseph Mark
    Kari Crowe
    Jenny Martell
    Perez Photography
    Jeff Loftin
    Aves Photography
McGowan Images (lower than the others)

Oh gosh, there are so many I love I wish I could remember them all.

Hickory Street Annex might have the vibe you are looking for.  I don't know how budget friendly they are though.

Welcome, for a little higher budget I really like Lynn Michelle and Kari Crowe
     as Stephie mentioned.

I am using Mcgowan images and ADORE them.  My wedding is on Friday so I should have pics to show sometime next week but their blog is full of prettiness.

Welcome!  I know the venue part isn't finished, but I have finished the photograher section of the vendor site.  It should have images, prices, and contact info for all the recommended Photogs :)

I'm using Event 1013 for my venue and I love it. It has the look, and it's small enough that it fits in my budget. I also like that we can have the ceremony and reception in the same place, makes it simple. My photographer has been AMAZING so far! We've only done engagements, but she's invested so much time into us, we love her. She's actually taking me to a mini spa day this weekend (ok, pedicures) because my FI is out of town and I was going to be lonely. She has become a friend in the short time I've known her, she loves weddings and has been so helpful with the details. Definitely my rave vendor so far! I love how her style mixes vintage and modern, it fits the venue so well! She's Kaitlynn Marie Photography, I don't think she's advertising on here yet, my friend gave me her email and I'm so glad she did. If you contact her, tell her Beth sent you, then we can both get some free prints :)

What price ranges are those? Kaitlynn Marie sounds fantastic I think I might set up a consult with her after hearing all that :)

She is fantastic :) she's younger, which worried me at first but she's worked for other photographers and has being doing portrait work for years! She started her business when she was 16 years old! After seeing our engagements I'm so confident in her :) We got her big package and that put us out something like $3,500. Worth every penny :)

Wow! I can do that price for sure, I really want to keep it in the $3,000 range so that sounds really good. I went ahead and sent her an email, also has anyone else worker with Event 1013? They don't have a whole lot of pictures on their webisite and I may just be biased because I've loved Cotton Mill so long that I have my heart set on it even though it's too big for us, hah!

I already got a response back, I think she sounds sweet. I'd expect to hear something more generic but she wanted to hear about our story and what planning I've done and she even talked about you, Beth. We're setting up a time for coffee this week :)

I third Event 1013! It was too small for us, but it is perfect for a wedding under 100 people. It's in downtown Plano, so if you're looking in the North Dallas area, it's the perfect location.

Congrats and welcome!! I'm nosey-want to know how he proposed!!!! :)

As far as photographers go, def. hit up the vender sticky at the top! Great info!
I'm using Jim Byrd. He is super passionate about his work and his prices are good! I have....I forgot what it's called...but it's not the most expensive, but the one down from that. I have engagement, bridal, and wedding day sessions, plus pictures to go with them. I get an album for us plus 2 parent albums as well. Total package was like 2695. Plus he's really willing to work with you and setting up appointments and all. (which reminds me I need to set up bridals).

You can try The Modern in FW

I used Monica Salazar Photography. She was great and really gets to know you. I love her work.

<div>He definitely caught me off guard. His family goes to Colorado every year, that's where they're from and I've sworn since I was 12 I was going to live there one day, (lucky me Peter wants to live there too!) This was the first time they invited me to come with them so I was very excited :) One of the days he took me for a walk behind our cabin, where the views were beautiful! ah I love it there. But he started talking about our future and getting a little emotional and then all of the sudden stopped me and got on his knee! </div>

    Congrats on the engagement!

I am using Jim Btrd photography too.  My engagement photos are this weekend (with our without this hateful cold/bronchitis thing) so hopefully I will have some fun photos to share.  We met with he and his wife Syd and it turned into a 2+ hour meeting.  He and FI talked Navy and Harleys.  He is so excited to photograph the Harley.

    Happy planning!!
