venues under $1500?

Hi, I'm looking for some help from fellow Cincinnatians.  My fiance and I have set our date for March 16th.  We're just starting to look at venues and I think we have it narrowed down to the Centennial Barn for the reception site, but now I'm wondering if there are any other places that are under $1500 that are available?

We'd prefer something that is not the typical reception hall, hotel, etc.  An elegant, slightly vintage or historic venue would be lovely.  We will have around 85 guests or so.

Any suggestions?  Thanks!

  • I'm using the Hughes Center Barn owned by the YMCA in Hamilton.  It's not upscale, but has that rustic/vintage feel I was looking for.  It's $850 for the day and includes chairs and tables.  Plus you can bring in your own caterer which saves money.

  • Were getting married and having a dinner at the Precinct. They have a minimum of $1500 but you could have a really nice hordourves reception depending on what your wanting. Atleast worth looking at
  • thanks for the suggestion GAC.
  • We used the large hall at the Colerain Township Community Center. They have recently renovated it in the last year (new paint, wood floors, lighting, chivari chairs). The price that includes the chairs and tables is $1,100 for non-residents and $950 for residents. This place was great because we could bring in our own vendors (catering, bar service, etc.). I did have to hire someone to set up and tear down the space.

  • Thanks for that recommendation, e_brenda!  I liked the photos and I LOVE that they have chivari chairs.  I'm suddenly thinking that I NEED them.  :)

I hope it works out for you. If you happen to need linens, floating candles, glassware, etc., I have items for sale that I either used once or are brand new. You can check out pictures of everything at my website. Plus there's pictures from our reception there too. Let me know if there's anything that interests you.

  • St. Elizabeth's Cathedral (aka Vineyard Central) in Norwood.  It's where I got married in May 2011 and I can't tell you how many people raved about the how unique the venue was.  Rental is $600 and it includes some tables (we had to rent a few more because we had 125 guests) and banquet chairs.

There isn't a gallery of photos on their website but you can find some by doing a simple Google or Flickr image search:

I found this too through Google:

We're getting married at the Carnegie Center in Columbia Tusculum (not the one in KY). It's a gorgeous historic building built by the architect who built Music hall. They will let you bring in your own caterer and bring your own alchohol which saves a ton of money too. Pics are on the website: http://thecarnegiecenter.org/

Do you mean the rental price for under $1500? I wanted something different that wasnt a ballroom and fell in love with both The Redmoor and 20th Century Theater. They are both theaters and really cool inside--the rental fee for 20th Century is $1500 for Saturday night, and I believe on Friday night it's $750 and they include linens etc on Friday night. We're getting married on Saturday, but it's something to consider.

The Redmoor was a similar rental price. We ended up going with 20th century simply because of size.  20th Century has been awesome to work with-they answer all my annoying emails constantly. And they are SOOO easygoing. For our tasting I said I had seen a mini grilled cheese with a shooter of tomato soup...and they made it for me. :) They also dont have a lot of annoying rules like a lot of venues...really anything goes. Good luck!
  • I fell in love with The Redmoor. Mandi is incredible, and the rental is $1500 for Saturdays, but only $1000 for Fridays and $500 for Sundays.  She's allowed us to fully customize our menu, and her bar prices are very reasonable.
