RSVP contact for shower

I am the contact for a shower. Can I get some really quick wording for politely handling when parents ask if kuds are invited kids aren't invited? I am pretty bad on the phone and always end up fumbling my words so I would love some help. I just told a woman it was "adult only" and I feel like a jerk.

    I should clarify that some of the "kids" are 18 which makes it feel more awkward.

    I just had to do this for a baby shower and said that we had to limit it to the adults due to space.

    OP, do you mean kids as in, offspring that guests just happen to have? Sometimes when people hear the term "kid" they picture, like, little kiddies. But, I'm my dad's "kid" and I'm 31...ish.
    I'd just tell them, " We can not accommodate any extra guests."

    I had mentioned this shower in a previous post.  My MIL planned it and paid for it but I am an RSVP person.  I guess she didn't account for how many people the bride would add to the list.  She had planned for 65 and it ended up being 79.

    It is kids in the sense of being 18 or younger (I believe.)  I am not entirely clear because I am just a contact person for the RSVPs.  I would assume anyone over 18 would just have their own invite if they had been invited?  I don't want to ask my MIL too many questions either because then it looks like I am pointing out all the etiquette problems.
