Re: It's afternoon, so we're going to stop posting in the AM thread

  • Sparent, I chuckled about your dog, then was sad for the chinchillas. Boo! I hope they come back!!

I had a wicked headache all day. Must be going around.
  • Hi!

    Sorry about the chinchilla, spare.

    My voice sucks.  :(

I'm waiting for the washing machine repair guy to fix my washer.  I have a large pill of colored clothing that needs to be washed, but I can't do anything until we can guarantee that there'll be no flooding.  My poor kitchen ceiling has water damage in the new pain.  :(  Last week was not my week.
  • I live in the same town as my parents and IL's. I see my IL's a few times a week and my parents almost every day.

Last week my mom showed up to say hi at about 7:45 AM as I was trying to leave for work. I was really annoyed. It's great that she wanted to eat breakfast, but seriously? Call before! But it's ok. I stop by their house unannounced all the time, so I deserved it.
  • I think the psycho MOH/sane bride stuff is BS.
  • Aw thanks guys. I hope so to, but part of me knows I might not see them again.

We used to live 2 blocks from the FIL's and we saw them 1 time every other month. Now we live 45 minutes away and they want to see us every weekend.

For some reason, I feel like this is different. I don't know. I can't imagine ever thinking of this house as just "my parent's house." I've lived here for the last 21 years. I guess if they ever move to somewhere I've never lived, I might feel differently.

  • Spa - I'm sorry!! I hope they come back! Are they the sort of animals that would find their way back to what's familiar? I know nothing about them. I really hope so for your sake!

The funny thing about my cat is that she isn't even "mine" our roommate bought her as a kitten when he and FI first moved in. She hated me when I arrived. Now, heaven forbid I don't feed her. Or that it's not as soon as my alarm goes off every morning. The best part is if I'm not home but FI is, she won't bug him at all. Yet, the second I walk in the door she wants her food. I think somehow I'm her personal slave and must do her bidding...

I wouldn't mind going away with my IL's although since FI's mom is deceased and dad isn't in the picture my IL's consist of FI's grandmom and his 2 aunt and uncles as well as their spouses, children, and in some cases grandchildren. As much as I love them, it would be a long trip. They're all very loud, it would wear on me after awhile.

FI actually works with my dad. Got a job with him about 5 months ago. They haven't killed each other yet, and FI doesn't want to quit, which my uncle did after 3 months with my dad, so that's a plus. However, I'm pretty sure if I mentioned spending 8 hours on a day off in the car with my dad, FI may kill me! LOL

Both my mother and FMIL have a problem with us sharing a bed. Except with my mom, I don't get it. My ex lived like 45 minutes away, so if we were down this way for something, sometimes we'd stay overnight at my house and eventually it became no big deal. Now I'm engaged to be married, and she doesn't like us to sleep in the same bed. At least she let us share a room at the shore house last weekend. Twin beds though. FMIL won't even allow us to do that.

ETA - Sometimes I wanna be like, "We've been doing it on and off since we were 17 and 18. The jig is up."

Sounds like my mom! FMIL wouldn't care what we did as long as we kept it down. My mom I had to swear we wouldn't do anything in her house with her there, I felt like a teenager!

  • I would feel weird having sex in my parent's house or FIL's house, but FI and I have lived together for 2.5 years, so that probably ahs something to do with it.

  • We basically only can have sex at either my parent's house or his parent's house, since we both live at home... so I guess it's NBD to me. Luckily both houses are big and nothing is overheard, because thaaaaat would be embarrassing.

Also, I've made my parents promise not to do anything with my room because if something happened, God forbid, I want to come home to my room. Will I feel that way 5 years from now if we got divorced? Probably not. But it's how I feel now. I don't like change.

  • Angel, my parents have always been like that. FI had to sleep in the basement when he came over and stayed and I had to be in my room upstairs. His parents never had a problem with it until Saturday, a week before the wedding. Like seriously? We still wound up in their basement together until FI's knee got too uncomfortable on the couch and he moved. FMIL wouldn't let us sleep on the extra bed upstairs though. FBIL told us that she suddenly got a stigma about it.

Whatever, 5 days I'll be married and I'll do whatever I want.

  • I like my inlaws, but MIL can been very needy, and sometimes it drives me nuts.  It is useful, though, when I'm bored or lonely.

Thats weird that they just started having a problem with it.  FI and I have lived together for almost 2 years.  when we visit parents we sleep in separate rooms.
My mom remodled my bedroom 3 months after I graduated from college and moved away for a job...it took her a few years but now she doesn't even call it my room

ETA: the point of this was that I thought I would be more sad about losing my childhood room than I actually was.

  • Sparent, sorry to hear about the chinchillas.  I hope they turn up.

Ada wakes me up every morning for her breakfast by sticking her nose by my mouth and meowing.  The whiskers tickle. Then she scarfs down the wet food so fast and stares at Cheyenne eating, slowly inching her way closer and closer until Cheyenne leaves and Ada eats the rest.

I need a nap.  4:30 is too early for me to wake up.  And my mom just called to tell me that she thinks FI and I should make Lionel Richie's "Endless Love" our first dance song, because it came on the radio and she thinks it sounds nice.

[QUOTE]Adamar, we have one of those bowls!  And we STILL have to pour only a little at a time.  Our beagle eats from one as well and it does sufficiently slow her down.  But the bulldog?  Nope.  He gets WAY to excited about feeding time.  And crap, he's getting big.  I can barely lift him anymore.

    Pretty much! :D

We're meeting with the officiant Wednesday evening to go over everything before the rehearsal, I just called the caterer earlier today with the count, my mom/FI have the whole week off to work on things and I'm only working through Wednesday. Most everything WR is finished besides paying everyone. I just need to move more of my things over to FI's apartment. :)
  • Also, we put nearly 600 miles between us and both of our families, which was the smartest idea ever.  There's only so much of FMIL and FSIL I can take at one time, which is why when we go home this week I will be spending just a few hours with them.

Well we're moving back to my parent's house, so we obviously don't have a problem with them.  His parents are about 45 minutes away, and it seems like a good distance. Not too close, not too far.

  • I think Baloo is a chow/pit bull/rottweiler mix.  The only one I know fore sure is rottweiler, because his mom was my mom's old neighbor's dog (aka the most irresponsible pet owners ever).

And no, that's not his bed.  His is much larger.  He was just being silly.

  • My parents moved out of the house we grew up in 6 years ago, so it's definitely not "home" to me.  It sucks because the new house isn't big enough to sleep everyone if we're all there at the same time (luckily my younger sister & her H live 2 minutes up the road), so I get relegated to someone else's house since my nephew can't NOT sleep at Grammy & PapPap's house.  I'm not exactly fond of my younger sister so I use her house as a last resort if I can't find somewhere else to stay.
  • He is very huggable, but he doesn't like to cuddle.  He knows what "puppy kisses" means, though.
