Is this a cute idea for ceremony?

I was browsing www.bhldn.com and came across their message in a bottle kit: http://www.bhldn.com/the-shop_decor_stationery/message-in-a-bottle

I'm not into unity candles, sand, etc. and was thinking my FI and I could write a message to each other, put it in the bottle, seal it up and read them on our 10th anniversary or something.  Something to add the ceremony otherwise it will be 5 minutes.  What do you think?

  • I think it would be weird to watch you writing messages on a sheet of paper in front of your guests..?  Maybe if you did it before hand?

I think it will seem like what it is, a time filler.  Why do you need to add 5 minutes to your ceremony?
  • I don't think it seems like a time filler, just an alternative to the unity ceremony. If something has meaning to you, you should do it.

  • I like the idea, but I think that I'm going to go with the wine box idea. Fiance and I will ahead of time write letters to each other. Include in the box a bottle of wine and two glasses. To be opened upon a struggling time, or a special anniversary.

  • I think that you should do exactly whatever you want to do...It's your day and you can make it stand out any way that you see fit...If you like the message in the bottle idea I say GO FOR IT!
  • I think its a good idea, I am doing the wine box but since my FI and I arent wine drinkers I am having custom plates from Etsy made so we can share a slice of cake for our anniversaries along with the love letters.
  • Why not have your guest but notes, words of encouragement etc in a time capsule for you guys to read on your 10th anniversary? They can write whatever they want about you or the ceremony or even something funny about current events.. You and your FI read it 10 years from now...
