Rusty Pelican Miami Construction

Anyone else planning a reception at the Rusty Pelican for AFTER they are done with their construction in December 2011? OR does anyone have an inside scoop on the construction?  Should I get a plan B together in case the project goes late?

If the construction won't be complete until Dec. 2011 I would def. move on. You don't want to have to plan your whole wedding without ever getting the chance to view the venue and what it will look like, etc. Especially what it will look like after the renovations.

I agree with pp. You shouldn't wait on them especially if renovations will be done close to when you might book for your wedding. There are other venues that are just as nice.

I am having my reception there in a week. I was told from my Catering manager that the project is suppose to be done by next November.

From all the details she told me, it is going to look amazing, will have lots more space for parking (parking garage), new upscale decor, etc. If they are letting you book for December, I would say go for it since you can lock in today's prices. The prices are definitely going to shoot up after the renovation.

All in all, I have had a very positive experience with the Rusty. It has the best view in Miami period and I was very impressed (shocked even) when I did the food tasting. My catering manager is Kim Smalls and she has been great in every stage of the planning.

My best advice would be to go and have a meeting with them and you can get a better idea of what it will look like, be like, etc. They already have design plans in place. In my opinion, it is a great venue at a great price if view and food (and space - the 2nd floor is HUGE)  is what you are looking for.

    Good luck with everything!! HTH!
