  • I hate that term too.

[QUOTE]I can't stand any mention of "big girl panties."

Hahaha that's one of my favorite lines.  I don't use it a whole lot on here though.

  • Am I the only one who hates the "shop like it's their bday" advice?  My friends and I don't exchange presents, and half the people I was buying for (DH's little cousins, etc.) I've never bought for before.  I get telling people not to give bridesmaids an emergency kit, but I am someone who got away with giving them all the same present and them all loving it.  There exists some shiit that girls just love.

Oh good one.  I hate that advice.  I don't know if its my hometown or just my social circle, but we always give wedding related gifts.  I personally would much rather get something that will save me money for your wedding over anything else that you would just buy me.  Give me a gift card towards my hair or buy my dress, and i will be beyond thrilled.  Gift card to a store I like, meh.

eh, see, I don't see WR things as a gift because IMO the bride and groom should already be paying for that ;)
  • The "Don't ask your WP early" and "don't pick dresses early".  For what reason????  I'm done with the first part, working on the second part.  Because seriously, we will probably know the date we can have the wedding with 3 months notice.  I'm doing what I can now so I'm not doing it later.

And to whoever told me it was rude that my FMIL was planning the reception with my general guidelines in place.  :P  She's in the area, I am not.  She likes planning huge events, I do not.  She is the world's best bargain shopper and deal getter, I can't dream of living up to her standards.  We said here's the budget, here's what we like, here are the no way, no hows, and she's giving us (me since DF is going ok, fine, that's nice to EVERYTHING) final say on the details.  Not sure if it's rude that she's planning it, or if it's that we have final say.
