How many videographers?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering how many videographers/cameras you had or will have at your wedding reception? A videographer I like says they typically shoot with 2 videographers and 4 cameras, but that seems a little excessive for a 200 person reception. Thoughts??

we only had 1 and it worked well, maybe 2 for the vows, but I'd think 1 other than that would be plenty

We had 2 videographers and 2 cameras total for the day. Had great footage!

I have 2 videographers during the ceremony, and then 1 videographer and 1 add'l camera during the reception

I agree, 2 videographers and 2 cameras is more than enough.

I do videography, and I'd just have to say it depends.  Having 4 cameras might be a bit over the top, but it all depends on what you are looking for.  If you are more concerned with the montage that is edited to music, then 2 is fine.  That's definitely enough to get some good shots.  However, if you are looking for a professional cut of your ceremony all the way through, it's not bad to have 4.  especially if the 2 un-manned camera's are out of the way somewhere.  You never know when neither camera operator will have the shot.   We usually have 2 for the day, then hire in one extra camera for the ceremony.  It just give us a little more freedom and less stress about missing a shot.

If the price is right and their work is something you like then I think however many they like to supply is up to them. Yeah, it might seem over the top but at least you know you should get anything and everything you will possibly want. My friend just had a wedding and with the package she purchased they claimed that there would be two photographers...only one showed up. The picture selection more than made up for that, so my friend never brought that up, but while the bridal party was outside for probably an hour getting our pictures taken there wasn't anyone inside getting the friends and family. It is nice to know that with so many people scheduled to shoot your wedding if one or two of them can't make it for whatever reason you will still have 2 or 3 of them there.
Honestly, if you're concerned about them getting in the way or it being a bit much see what other people have to say about them and ask for references, if they will provide any.
