Alterations

Help! How much did you guys pay for alterations in Columbus, and where are the best places/people to go to? How many different fittings or alterations did you need to have? What about the timeline? I want to make it as close to the wedding as possibly becuase I'm still working out, but I don't want to wait too long!

Help! Thanks!

I was an out of state bride, so I didn't have time to run to different places trying to find the best price, etc.

I got my alterations done by Alan ray. I also purchased my dress there. As far as the price went, my dress was very detailed so that added to the cost. I think all in all, everything cost $275 for the alterations and to add the bustle.

I basically had one fitting. Once the dress came in, we knew it needed altered and I knew I would be in town for my bridal shower (early April). So Alan took the measurements then. Then we were home a week before the wedding (mid June) and as soon as I got in town, I went and tried it on (it was still at his shop). Everything was perfect. He told me that had I needed something done, the week would have been plenty of time to make a quick last minute fix.

You should go for your first fitting about 2-3 months before your wedding.

As far as seamstresses that are recommended around here, I would look down the page through some of the older threads. I know this question has come up in the not too distant past.

    Good luck!

Go to Cindy Moore, Zip Alterations.

DD had a 21 point French Bustle added to dress, the bodice altered (v was just too deep) and I think she paid $75.

Cindy is excellent, fast and VERY, VERY good. Her prices are extremely reasonable too.

Very east to get to - 270 to Dublin, East on 161 to first light. Right (south) at that light which is Frantz Rd and it is about 1/2 mile down in a small office park on the right (not Metro V, just past Metro V/Max & Irma/s Graeters Ice Cream but on that side of the road).

I can't recommend her highly enough. DD has had her wedding gown and 2 bridesmaids dresses. DDIL had her weddin gone, MOB dress and another bridesmaid had dresses altered there.

I HAVE to recommend my dress maker, Monica Gwaltney. Not only is she a talented seamstress, she's an amazing dress maker and designer. I am wearing my mom's dress and since it's over 38 years old, it needed some work to make it fit me and my style. Monica took the project over and truly treated it as though it were her own wedding dress. I can't say enough about how fabulous she is. In terms of cost, she is very reasonable -- I would call her for a quote. Here's her info:

Monica Gwaltney - Personal Fit Solutions
    4860 Smoketalk Lane
    Westerville, Ohio 43081
    614-948-5381

Good Luck -- let me know how it works out!
