Recommend your cake maker (Huntsville)

I'm looking for a bake shop in the Huntsville, Decatur, Florence, Athens area. We will need a cake that will feed app. 100 people and that's relativley inexpensive.  Any suggestions? Do know anything about Publix cakes?

I was at a wedding in Huntsville about 2 months ago for a good friend of mine and her grroms cake was from publix.  It was good but she said that it cost pretty much the same as what a lower priced baker who worked out of her home (i.e. not in a fancy bakery) quoted her.  She ended up taking some time to think about it and the woman who bakes out of her home was booked when she made the decision and went back to her.  Personally I would rather have the service that a baker would give you (like the consultation of what would look good, where you should set it and delivery and set up at  the site).

Publix is definitely more expensive than most bakers in Huntsville. I recommend Peggy Ann's on Regal Drive. I personally used Nicki Mason and my cake was fantastic and great price! I am not sure who did my groom's cake because my caterer got them, but it was AMAZING! I am not a red velvet fan, but this cake was great! She only charged me $1.65/slice and I think she made my cake for more than 120, which is what I ordered, either that or her slices are huge! I love Peggy Ann cakes, but had heard great things about Nicki and decided to go with her. She did an excellent job, but you have to get in touch with her way in advance to be able to get her. I'll try and find her number for you. Here's my cake: [IMG]http://tinyurl.com/yzrax39[\IMG]

I'm using Debbie Hardaway in Athens.  I have had 5-10 unrelated sources all recommend her and telling what a great job she does.

We used Theresa Carpenter with Old Vienna Bakery in New Hope. She's been working out of her home for years, but just opened her bakery. Her prices are a lot more reasonable than a lot of the bakers we looked at in Huntsville, and the cake was delicious.
