  We registered at Bed Bath & Beyond and Macy's.  BB&B seems to be cheaper than Macy's in general but they had the fine china, silver, and crystal in the store which I thought was easier to pick out than searching through a book.

  We haven't registered yet, but we're looking at Amazon.com and a "real" store (we haven't picked which one yet).

  
  

  My cousin used to work at BB&B, and she said that they have a very lax return policy -  you can pretty much return ANYTHING there, even if it's obviously been used.  So that might be helpful if you think you might have a lot of returns/exchanges...

  We registered at Macy's and Crate & Barrel. We chose Macy's for our fine china, cookware, kitchen electrics, luggage, and bed and bathroom linens. We chose Crate & Barrel for our everyday china, decor accents, drinkware, and table linens. We thought Macy's had a great completion discount, and there were many stores close to our guests. Crate & Barrel suits our style, and the things we put on the registry were actually pretty inexpensive- our everyday china was cheaper than BBB and Macy's. Both stores had easy-to use in-store scanners, registry items were easy to find (bought off a BBB registry once and thought it was hard to find the items we wanted to buy), easy online management tools, and helpful associates. Most of our guests bought items or gave us gift cards to Macy's, but we also had a few Visa gift cards we used to buy all our everyday stuff from C&B. I would have also considered Sur la Table if there were more stores across the country. One of my in-laws gave us a gift card there (which we still haven't completely used and it's been almost a year!) and we just loved their great cooking gadgets.

  
  

  For furniture, we love C&B, and even if you don't receive furniture as gifts, put them on the registry because you'll likely get gift cards you can put toward it and you'll get the completion discount after the wedding you can use on the furniture. That's what we did for our dining room and saved a lot of money by using the completion discount.

  We registered at BBB and Macy's.
  
  As far as furniture goes, I would try IKEA or Front Room Furnishings. I love Front Room. I bought my 2 end tables and lift top coffee table there several years ago and they have held up great. And they were only like $500 for the set.

  We had a big guest list so we registered at four stores: BB&B, Macy's, C&B, and Pottery Barn.  Everything from our Macy's registry was purchased--it was definitely the most popular choice of our guests.  The service was great and I still get calls from the Tuttle Mall location telling me about special discounts for brides.  We also ended up getting a gift card from Macy's for about $170 based on our guests purchases.  I agree with PP that BB&B has a super easy return policy.  Never had any trouble returning things there.  It also was the most popular choice for out of town guests that didn't have Macy's.  My favorite things were from C&B, everyday china, cute decorative items, and was happy with their service too.  I could tell it wasn't as popular with our guests though because we still had several placesettings that we bought on our own after the wedding. 
  
  I registered for a few random things at PB, like curtains, lamps, etc.  Their customer service reps on the phone were always really helpful, but they had the strictest return policy and I actually got a lot of attitude from the Tuttle location and at first they were going to refuse to take one of my returns on day 88 after my wedding (90 days is the limit) which really disappointed me.  However, the manager ended up finding my phone number from my registry and calling and apologizing and offering me a $25 gift card to make up for it. 
  
  So in the end I would say I was very pleased with all four stores.  If I were to pick only two, I'd go with either Macy's or BB&B as one pick and C&B as the second.

  we are doing macy's for linens, china, silverware, kitchen stuff and believe it or not sears for garden, outdoors, tools...we just bought a house and really need those kinds of things!  sears also includes kmart, land's end, and great indoors!
