J - Box Kitty is so sweet and adorable. She looks really soft.
The springy legs guy was/is a huge controversy. They were going on about it for quite some time before the Olympics started. Some people didn't want him to compete because they thought the legs would give him an unfair advantage.
People did complain about the guy with the artifiial legs. It's been kinda hotly debated in the running world I think. Megbo was talking about it earlier this week. I don't think that's an unpop op.
The Olympic Committee looked at his legs, talked to the company that designed and made them, and came to the conclusion there is no special advantage to them.
She is super soft. We always say we want rugs and blankets as soft as her (but you know, not made OF her).
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who was all "WTF NOT FAIR," about the amputee. I mean, i think it's great that he's overcome adversity and all that, and I'd love to see him run...but...yeah.
J&K - I did call it a bubbler for a long long time. After 15 years in Ohio (4 in college, 11 after graduation) I was broken of the habit cause no one besides the people from Massachussets knew what I was talking about.
Was it eastern WI though, Loops? They are weird over there. They call drinking fountains "bubblers".
ETA: beat me to it.
I don't even drink POP. So really I don't know why I'm being argumentative. Oh right, because I miss J and I'm a jack hole now.
I still call it a bubbler from time to time, and people are always pretty confused. It's not even a Wisconsin thing. It seems ot be a pretty specific region. If I recall correctly, you're from somewhere not TOO far from me...
I still use it occasionally too. When I'm picking on sick people (like cold/sinus sick, not terminally ill sick.. and friends ya know.. I'm not THAT mean - to make fun of sick people I don't know ) I tell them that's what they get for putting their mouth on the bubbler. It doesn't have the same ring if you use "drinking fountain".

I was born and raised here, and say "soda" although I rarely drink one. I had never heard 'bubbler' before this thread, I rather like that. I only can compare differences in iced tea, my drink of choice - very difficult to find UN-sweet if traveling north.

Sounds like a really fun club doesn't it poke? Lol.
Well I'm off to bed. Even though there are severe storm warnings and I'll likely wake up from a siren soon. Good night!
I'm so happy I could introduce "gutterslut" to those of you that didn't already have it in your vernacular.
The conversation I had with Beachy (I think) where we dissected its meaning and the mental images it evoked will forever be on my list of amusing conversations.
