I didn't know how to properly use semicolons until I was writing my thesis. And I also discovered at that time that I abuse the passive voice. Now it bothers me every time I use it, but I think sometimes it works better.
And, FWIW, we were given the option of using one space or two in the formatting guidelines, as long as we were consistent.

Well, admitting/acknowledging you have a problem is the first step to recovery.
I always put two spaces after every sentence. It's what I was taught to do in school and I am just so used to it now! Also, I always put the comma after the second item. It looks really weird to me if it isn't there.

When did FF become a grammer lesson? I'm with Giselle. I use the excuse English is my second language for mistakes I make. Honestly, I was behind in English class the whole time I was in school. I always had to have people check my papers. I'm sure I sound like an idiot on these boards, but likely no one has said anything.
I can't stand people saying or typing "nothing" when it's suppose to be "anything." I don't know why it's just a pet peeve.
I flame people who think their BP are there to serve them! They are still people, with lives, and responsbilties. Just because they said yes to being your BM does not mean they have to plan everything around you!

i could technically use the excuse that i didn't really take an "english class" until midway through highschool...oh the joys of attending public schools out of country, i'm extremely behind on my english, and grammar, and what ever else there may be. But i can function, and at least half way spell. unlike some members in this society.

I've thought the same thing about Jessica, Nick and Tony...but maybe i'm just behind on the stars drama...but i dont see how Carrie is linked to this?
According to this post I am way out dated in my grammar. I tend to use it correctly when I have to but I take alot of short cuts too and am fully aware of it. Sue me.
I'll jump on the grammar wagon. It bugs me to no end when people make certain mistakes, like using double negatives and such. I'm only really picky about commas and things like that when it's something printed, that is supposed to look professional... like the real estate brochure for the $5m house that my FI does work at from time to time. It's been on the market for several years, and now that I've seen the house (and the brochure on the kitchen counter), I'm confident it's because the realtor is grammatically disabled.
Also, I'm an ellipsis abuser (I didn't know there was a name for it, I just call it "dotdotdot") and I use them when there's a long pause in my thoughts, as opposed to a short pause demonstrated by a comma. And I will always be a doublespacer. Take that, grammar gods!

I flame TK with it's inconsistency. I get it that the whole 'attitude' of the board is probably regulated by the moderator. By that I mean that you can call someone an a**face (or something close to that) on the etiquette board, but Brianna will totally shut you down if you try it here. I guess I'm really flaming that behavior in general. I get that people come to TK for advice - and yes, it's a message board full of opinions. I truly feel like there is some serious cyber bullying on other boards.
I agree, it can be entertaining to read, etc. However, there really is someone on the other end getting bashed because they asked about cash bars or something else that is so (aack) horrible. (Please sense the sarcasm - I'm not saying that cash bars are horrible). I'm not even sure why the moderators on some other boards are there.

It does all seem coincidental but at the same time could they all just be that happy and have found the right person? Who knows. I guess we will find out in the next few years who last and who doesn't.
FWIW I think Carrie Underwood did it all for the right reason. If the others are truly in love and think it is a forever thing congrats to them!!!
