Calligraphers? How are you doing your invites?

I have a company printing my invites and they will do the return addresses on my invite envelope and the RSVP envelope... but what about the addresses??? Should I print them on my printer? Pay to have it done?

Would labels look horrible?! I have the worst handwriting...

Fi's mother has said several times that we must use a calligrapher for our invites. I think she's being silly. Most likely we'll print directly on to the envelope because it's just so much cheaper than paying someone.

If we can't print directly on the envelopes for some reason then we'll do clear labels. Either way, I'm not paying someone to write addresses for me... no matter what fmil says!

afineletter.com did my calligraphy.  Beautiful work, quick turnover and amazing prices.  If you only have outer envelopes, prices start at 40 cents a piece, or 65 cents for BOTH outer and inner.

Everytime I ran an envelope through our printer, the printer basically ate it and the envelope was unmailable afterwards. That was just my experience though (using Paper Source envelopes). We ended up using Lettering by Liz (http://www.calligraphyboston.com/) in the North End at the last minute and she was awesome.

The company that is doing my invites is also doing my calligraphy through a studio in NYC. For my STDs, I worked with LHCalligraphy in CA.

I second afineletter.com - addresses were beautiful and the customer service and response time were excellent.

We made wrap around labels for our invites and I think they came out amazingly!

I'm using DancingPen on etsy. I just got my samples yesterday and they are gorgeous.  her prices are comparable to a fine letter, I would say.

ooo what did the wrap arounds look like?!?

We are using calligraphy by Michelle--$1.15 for outer envelopes, but no extra charge for colored envelopes or ink (which was around 50 cents more everywhere else). We thought about other options, but I love my invites so much I really want the outside to look professional.  We just received a very fancy engraved invite for a friends wedding and the adressing was done by hand but not professionally and was kind of messy, it just didnt fit with the gorgeous invite!

I did wrap arounds for my invitations as well ... so much easier than running them through the printer or trying to do by hand ...

We have dark chocolate brown envelopes.  I used a laser printer to print the addresses directly on them in black ink in Edwardian Script font (available with Microsoft Office), and then I traced over the lettering with a calligraphy pen & white ink).  Once I go over them you can't even see the printing underneath.  PIB.

Yay! Finally able to update my signature :)
