<div>Yeah. I didn't really apply to many schools because I didn't think I was going to go right away. I also genuinely didn't think I could get in to the Master's here, but when I did I started to really think about it. Another place I applied to and got into is in Colorado. I would have really liked the change of scenery but they've been dragging their feet on financial info and I wouldn't know before the decision deadline for UofM (where I am currently). Plus a relocation would have been tough financially right now. But it's all good. FI actually just got offered a decent job here that he interviewed for, so I think it's all going to work out ok!</div>

  • Hello everyone!

I've been cleaning the house today. I'm about 3/4 done. Just have to do the upstairs bathroom and vacuum. I don't mind cleaning bathrooms, but I HATE vacuuming. Usually FI does it, but he's studying for the Red Seal so he's kind of out of commission.

I've been emailing potential photographers too! I'm so excited to be doing wedding stuff again (I took a 2 month hiatus during school), but bummed because out first choice isn't available.

Beth - FI's Mom's house was super loud too! It was a 1950s bungalow and you could hear everything through the entire house. For that reason, I don't ever want a bungalow unless the bedrooms are really separated from the rest of the house.

My sister went to U of M, so I've been to Ann Arbor quite a bit, and almost went to U of M myself. I think it's a great town, but I think GR/Holland/Kzoo are great, too! Western Michigan is soooo beautiful. I mean, maybe not like downtown Muskeegon, but Holland for the tulip festival, or Ludington State Park, or Traverse City, which I guess is more northern than west, but still.

MI is a lot more beautiful forest and amazing lakeshore and lovely farmland than it is industrial downtown Detroit.

I haven't been back in like 10 years. :( One of these days, I'm taking hubs and our kiddo and we're going to road trip all over MI for a nice long summer vacation so they can see the land where I grew up, which is SO very different from the desert! Much as I love it here and would not want to move back b/c of the winters, the spring and fall in particular I really, really miss!

FWIW, the first photog I contacted that I thought was my first choice wasn't available. But it turned out to be a good thing, b/c I found someone else that I loved even more, and she was totally fabulous and I am SO glad it turned out the way it did. Hopefully you'll have a similar experience. :)

Make sure your shoes fit properly, and wear a good pair of socks (i.e. cotton).
  • Desert, I'm in the Kzoo area. I love the scenery but despise the cold. Eirwyn is right, we had like 70-80 degree weather the last week of march, and so far april has been in the 30-50s. It suuuuucks!!

I'm so over the cold and ready for it to be nice again.

I know what you mean. BF is from Albuquerque, and I'm always marveling at the gorgeous high desert scenery, the mountains, and the different flowers and such every time we go back for a visit. I can't imagine moving away from the water, though. As beautiful as the SW is, I just love lakes and rivers too much. Also, as you said, spring and fall are so pretty (especially in the U.P.) They're definitely my favorite seasons.

For real. I tried to explain that to BF before he moved here. I was talking about how big Michigan is and told him you can drive for ten hours and still be in the same state. Detroit to Marquette is about nine hours, and that's only halfway-ish across the U.P.

If there are areas that usually get rubbed the wrong way, you can try putting a band-aid there for extra protection. There's one area of my heel that always gets blisters in certain kinds of shoes, so I usually slap a clear band-aid on.

Yah, I knew it was happening, But I was rocking it out on the treadmill and didn't want to stop. Funny that it happened on my left foot but not my right. I think the socks were too thin and that could have been the issue. I am going to go out tonight and get some better socks and hope I can locate some more yoga pants. I love yoga pants.

  • Hey ladies! FI and I just got back. We toured a local wedding venue this morning, but they do more outdoor weddings - and it is raining here today - so they were moving the wedding that is taking place this afternoon indoors. I am actually glad I saw it... it was so cramped. The outdoor space has plenty of room for 150ish people for reception and ceremony, but the indoor space seemed very cramped. So that one is out the window.. Neither of us are too disappointed though.

In other news I got FI to cut his hair off! He's back to a very handsome 3-4 side, fingerlength up top. His stylist loved that I had talked him into cutting it short again! It hasn't been short for a couple years now, and oh my gosh, it looks really really good! We're thinking about going to see Hunger Games tonight (we ended up not going last Friday, and we're both itching to see it!)

Oh me too! A throwback to my growing up days I think. My family would have those "Family Game Nights", and if the power went out or something, my dad would always get one of those old, clunky, battery powered fluorescent lamps (we had them for when we would go camping) and we would gather around it with a stack of board games and get lost in them for hours.
