Wedding Invitations & Paper

Where to buy DIY Invitation kits?

My Fiance and I are looking for simple & classy DIY invitation kits. We have looked at Walmart & Michaels and found nothing we like. Are there any other stores that sell them. I am trying to avoid buying online due to budget. Help me!!!

Re: Where to buy DIY Invitation kits?

  • JoAnn Fabrics is where I got my DIY kits, they have coupons online and in the newspaper for 50% so you can get a way better deal (and honestly, prettier and better quality than Walmart) if you time it right. I got kits of 50 for like $20 when I used my 50% coupons. Hope this helps :)
  • Do they have a big selection?

  • We are ordering program paper from an online paper site. They also sell different invitation suite. I think I looked at LCI paper and paper and more. I was able to order samples for 12 bucks depending on what I was looking for so I would know the paper quality before I purchased in bulk. If you can't find anything in a real store, you might want to consider those places. They were fast with shipping and one even had videos on how to print at home with the different sizes and everything.

We bought ours at Michaels and they had a really huge selection, so maybe they are different in certain areas.. I've heard Joanns is good too.

  • Try places like Staples, Office Depot.
  • Michael's seems to have the best kits...If you want to go all out and really start from scratch and do it yourself....Check Hobby Lobby. I bought plain 5x7 folding cards and envelopes and I'm using scrapbook paper, paper flowers, and ribbon to decorate the outsides. You can either use a computer to print on the inside or write, or even glue/use sticky dots to attach another color of paper inside where the actual information will be. And I love Hobby Lobby because if it isn't on sale, you can use a 40% off coupon. Or wait until the next week and it usually goes on sale.

Just watch out what you use to decorate...If the invite and respose card aren't completely flat or weigh more than a normal invite, postage can get expensive. Hope that helps.

  • Michaels really had the best selection and quality. Try a few different ones because sometimes they vary. Also, you can always change small details with the diy ones. For example, I changed the ribbon color, added a silver charm, and used a stamp with silver ink on the outside.
