Linen colors question

Hi girls! Its been a while since i've posted on the board but I have been lurking. My wedding colors are navy blue and light pink (blush). Im having my wedding and reception at the Carolina Inn in the Chancellor's Ballroom. The walls are a light blue and the carpet is purple (don't know who came up with that color combo). Im trying to not have a clash of different colors, so should I do a neutral off white table cloth on the tables, light pink, or navy? Should I do a standard polyester linen or would a satin or crush linen look okay too?

I would say that a neutra- colored linen like cream would be beautiful.  It will draw the eye away from the carpet (sounds gross) and up to the lighter blue walls.  I think a navy linen would blend too much into the carpet, amking yur recpetion area lok too dark (unless of course, that's what you're going for - a darker palette with pops of pink) and blush linens might make the reception area look too much like a baby shower against the light blue walls if you're not careful.  Without seeing the shades, I can't really offer anything too helpful. But, with neutral linens(cream, champagne, ivory) you can focus the use of navy and blush on the centerpieces and other decor (should you choose).  Your chosen colors sound beautiful and I can see the conflict here.   Good luck!

Okay so I had written a response yesterday, but it got eaten/disappeared.

I don't really think that the walls/carpet matter that much, but I think you should keep them in mind.  If you really want to make the space your own and not blend in so much, I wouldn't go with a neutral or white.  I think this kind of makes it seem like you're trying to use the colors of the walls and floors in your overall scheme.

I would do a nice navy linen, something satin, pintuck, or crushed, and then use pink/blush in the decor. I would do light pink in the flowers for your centerpiece and accent with either champagne/gold or silver (whichever you're using).  I think this would make your tables pop against the wall and carpet, and people would end up being drawn to look at those instead of the carpet or wall colors.  Also, I can't remember if you're doing any lighting... If you were to do up-lighting around the room, that could make the walls look even better(color-wise), so you might even be able to do something neat there.

I agree with Meredith- also I've been to a lot of functions in that room and you'd be surprised- the colors really fade into the background once your decor is in there.

Also, I would highly recommend uplighting if it's in your budget. Dave Watson is uplighting our tent (Get Lit Lighting) to give it a nice amber glow, but if your wedding is in the evening, maybe do some uplighting in the pink color from Meredith's pics (love them!) to compliment navy linens? I think the light blue would take to the pink lighting fine, and they wouldn't even look blue anymore! :)

Hi girls, I would appreciate input on this as well. I am having my reception in the Chancellor's Ballroom at the Carolina Inn as well. My colors are light blue, white with touches of light pink. So, the only difference is that my blue is lighter than jmp0930. TIA

I am definitely doing a light pink up lighting and Lyn from fresh affairs is doing light pink flowers for my centerpieces. Im probably going to go to CE rentals to look at tabletop designs to see what looks better together. I really like a satin table linens but I haven't totally decided what I want yet. Thanks for your ideas ladies, but now its even harder to decide..lol!
