is anyone out there?

Good evening ladies!

What is everyone up to? H and I just went to see a Christmas lights display with a few friends and are about to drink some hot chocolate. It was a lot colder than I thought it was going to be out there.

Re: is anyone out there?

  • I'm here.  H lit a fire in the fireplace so large that flames jumped out of the screen and set off the fire alarm.  I am surprised the Christmas tree didn't catch on fire.  The whole house is smoky.
  • Yikes, mica. I hope you can open a window to let the smoke out and allow the smoke alarms to shut off.

When I was younger, my Dad would set them off all the time when he would make stir fry.
  • I'm here. We're at our cabin right now and just hanging out.
  • I'm here.  Our smoke alarm always goes off the first time we turn on the heat for the first time of the year.  We have a really old gas heater and it is directly underneath the smoke alarm.  All the dust burning off make it go off.

  • Hello.  I set the smoke alarm off when I run the self-clean on the oven.

Working my first of 3 nights this week.  Then a looong weekend :)
  • The air is clearing up, but now it's cold from the doors being open.  I'm drinking wine to relax from the ordeal.  :)
  • I'm here and I'm exhausted. I spent an hour at urgent care last night as I was having some abdominal pain and thought maybe I had gotten an infection from the amnio. All is well turns out it was just some round ligament pain.

  • I had some really nice wine this weekend - my uncle has a great wine cellar, and lucky for me he shares :).

I put some Bailey's in my hot cocoa. Yummy.

barrel - where is your cabin? That sounds like an awesome getaway esp since I am sure you are out of school the rest of this week like I am.
  • Wow, Ciara.  How scary!  I'm glad everything is OK.

  • Hi KJB!  Did you get much snow Christmas night in Chicago?

Ciara - glad to hear you are home and that it was nothing too serious.
  • Oh Ciara - you need like a whole week off to just de-stress yourself :( glad everything is ok.

  • Ciara - glad it turned out to be minor. Rest up girl, you need it!

It's in Cascade, Id... About 2 hours from our house. I am off work until the 3rd but we have to go home tomorrow because H has to work.

Hey, Thanks!  Maybe sometime when we're staying longer than oh... 36 hours we'll make a stop on the way :).
One of my brothers is in Germany and the other one had to work Christmas day so I feel like I HAVE to go up so my parents aren't child-less on the holiday.  And I enjoy hanging out with my family mostly.  Since we were there, we got to be present when my cousin announced her (2nd) pregnancy to her parents which was really kind of sweet.  She gave them a photo album and the cover said "the grandkids" - it was super cute :).

    Edit - are = aren't.
  • Hey yall! I'm knotting via my iPhone in front of bonefish grill waiting on H and FIL to get out of Tron and come eat! I had sone serious retail therapy this afternoon. I've been in such a funk - I definitely needed it. Thanks to DocBroc's thread earlier, I knew to go to Loft where everything was half off! I scored super cute stuff :-)
  • Missy, I've checked all of those. I think I'll just need to go out and look for myself. Thanks for the suggestions though :)
  • Thanks ladies. If it wasn't for the amnio I probably wouldn't have worried about it. But since it was in the same area I was concerned.

  • Jill - maybe you are right, you just need to go out and look in person since sometimes you find different stuff in the stores than you do online and vice versa. I am assuming you are trying to find the outfit for your RB?

LDY - I wish I could do some serious retail therapy, but we are broke. We both get paid this week, so I am hoping that after the bills we have some leftover & I can maybe find a deal or two. I just need to get a better paying job somehow.

<div>I LOVE that store. I used to work there so pretty much my entire wardrobe was ATL.  I had to quit cause it was getting overwhelming (it was a weekend gig, while I worked a M-F full-time) and then I found a few months later that the one I worked at was closing.  Now I have to drive quite some way to get to one and it makes me sad :-(</div>

  • Missy, bingo! And of course the pants are the one thing I can't find. That, and a cute headband for my FG. Well...I've found LOTS of cute headbands, that's actually the problem

Ciara, thank goodness it was nothing serious!
  • I can honestly say I don't own anything from ATL. I don't know if I have even stepped foot in one of the stores and we have one right here at the local mall. Maybe I need to check it out. How long is the sale good for?
  • aMrs - I think your sanity would trump the 2 hours to the coast, right?

  • Jill, maybe you'll have better luck finding grey pants once spring hits.  How old is your RB?  Is it possible he will grown between now and your wedding?

  • Shortee, he'll be 3 in march, but he's kind of a shrimp. Tall and lanky just like his dad and big sister. He's in a 2T at the moment, but I was going to order a 3 just in case. :) And you're right, I would probably have more luck in another couple of months.

Well for sailors, the water helps provide sanity.  It's actually my health I'm worried about.  I over heated so badly just walking into work (about 5 minutes) that security took one look at me and made me sit down in the office.  They thought I was about to explode.

I spent most of the day mentally cursing DH and deciding that I was quitting work, packing a bag, heading to Hobart Tasmania and starting my job search there and slowly working my way north.  Once I found a job H could decide to join me or not.  Frankly, living apart can't do as much damage to our marriage as living here is :-(

THEN, I get home and the first words out of H's mouth are "uhm, guess who was looking at pictures and getting itchy feet?"   My Immigration atty told me to not unpack because he's seen this before and we wouldn't be here longer than two years...
For this plan to work, we have to re-finance the house and H has to take some required courses to upgrade his license (he is qualified, just needs to pay the man).  Then he can go back to the yachts in a position where he can hire me.

  • Hell, I have already seen some spring stuff out. But when it gets closer to Easter is when you should really start to find what you are looking for. Even though Easter is kinda late this coming year.
  • Missy - I THINK it's good through 1/3 If DocBroc had the right info :-) You should go! You're cute and little, I'm sure you could find lots. Not sure how little you are, but you look tiny in your pics, so they have petite in store too. You could rack up!

Thanks LDY. That totally made me feel better. I am about a size 5 in jeans, but short. I mostly shop in the juniors section, but as I get older I will probably have to step it up a bit. I thought that is what Docbroc said in her thread earlier, but I just couldn't remember for sure. In that case, I should be able to stop in over the weekend after we both get paid.
