Question about depositing a check with my maiden name

I just received a check (non-wedding related) from someone who was supposed to send it to me a good two months ago.  Not a big deal, but he made it out to me using my maiden name.

I changed all of my information at the bank right after the wedding when my husband and I deposited the gifts we received.  At the time it wasn't a big deal that some checks had my maiden name on them because the deposits were made on the same day that I chanaged my name.

Is it going to be an issue now, though?  Should I bring proof that my name changed or will they have it in their system?

I'd rather not go back to the guy who sent me the check only because it took so long to get this one in the first place that I imagine he'll take his sweet time sending me a new one.

Do you still have your old checks with your old name on them? Maybe that would help when you go to cash the check...

As long as you still have some sort of id with the old name on it you should be ok.

I think the bank should have your maiden name in their records.  You can always bring it to the teller and see if they'll take it.

I had that issue today. I could see that the lady was looking at the check funny. I explained to her that I was recently married and she was like "oh, ok". I offered to show her an old ID that I had but she said it was fine.

Yeah, I actually just got back from the bank and it was totally fine... no problems at all.

    Thanks everyone!
