Cincinnati Art Museum

Has anyone gotten married or is getting married at the Art Museum? Or holding thier reception there? It is my dream venue and am just wondering how it looks for weddings and how pricey it is.

Hopefully this link takes you to the right page but there are two art museum wedding videos on here. I have no idea on pricing.

Thanks. That did help as far as getting an idea of what it would look like with people and tables. I reallly hope I can make this dream venue come true. FI and I are planning to extend our engagement to save money for it.

Have you entered the win a wedding contest there?

I remember looking it up a few years ago and it being pricier than the Drees at that time.  There were also a lot of restrictions on what you could do with the space.  Hope you can find what you're looking for!

I looked at it when I got engaged and it is beautiful but very very pricey.  Everything is a la carte, and you have to rent silverware, plates, napkins...pretty much everything.  Nothing is included with the rental charge.  If you have the funds go for it...it's gorgeous!

If I hadn't moved from Ohio, this would have been my first choice for a venue.  The double curved staircases are just gorgeous.  Good luck!!

I got the wedding packages sent from them and it was out of my price range. The rotunda is about 1700 to rent out for a Sat evening and the pricing for the food packages (not including drinks) ranged from about $50pp to about 68pp plus a service charge and gratuity. If you email the contact name on the website they will send you the pricing! Hope this helps!

My FI and I are deciding to save and put off our wedding just to try to get this venue. Everything else will either be done by my mom and myself or family friends. So this would be our big splurge.

We aren't getting married at the Cincinnati Art Museum , but we are having our reception at a museum -- the Toledo Museum of Art Glass Pavilion (my dream venue, too!!!!).
I won't be able to speak much for Cincy museum (except that its gorgeous and an AWESOME place to have as part of your wedding day!) but you may want to look into any policies that they have (just in case).

At the Toledo Museum there are certain rules we must abide by. One of them is that we cannot have any open flame anywhere in the museum. I was told that many museums have that rule - so if you plan on having candles... think again (and I'm not a huge fan of the battery operated ones but.. oh well...).

Also we have to use a florist from their approved list -- we can't just bring in our own. I don't know if the Cincy Museum would have that type of rule but I just wanted to let you know. I don't have a problem with any of their approved ones but in case you already had a florist in mind it might not be there...

We want to try and do maybe half of our table centerpieces with the {approved} florist and do the other half ourselves... as we start to think of ideas we realize how difficult it might be with the no candles rule and florist rule...

Oh yeah -- no red wine either... and in one of the galleries in Toledo they allow no wine at all.....

I would never say 'no' to a reception there because of the rules ... but it will just make planning a little more ...... challenging.. Who knows -- the Cincy museum might not have those but if I were you I'd check and see what types of restrictions there are just in case.

Also - start looking as soon as possible - we only had a few dates to pick from in March 2010 when planning an August 2011 wedding...
I hope it works out for you! Good luck!!

My FI and I are having our wedding at the Cincinnati Art Museum next October. It is pretty pricey compared to a lot of other venues but we are making the site "our big splurge". I know they do drop their prices in the "off season" wedding months by at least $1,000 dollars, but I am not sure what their off season is? If you go to the website and email them, Katelyn, the wedding coordinator, emails you back quite a few pricing lists including catering and site rental. Hope this helps! My email is AlisonMTaylor_RN@hotmail.com if you have any other questions :)

Thanks for the info from everyone. Alison, are you doing ceremony and reception there? I really want to do both. I am not planning for anything until Fall 2012, but I would assume that I would need to book there well in advance. I will definately have to contact them to find out. I also plan to make that a big splurge for us too. We are already saving for it.

We booked it for both the ceremony and reception. And yes, we booked wayyy in advance this past March. They do a really good job at getting back to you quickly and working with you! We are definetly cutting back costs on a lot of other things so we can have it there. The good thing is- its so pretty you wont need a lot of decor!!

We are doing our wedding and reception at the CAM and the staff is absolutely wonderful to work with. Yes it is pricey, but the venue is def worth it. Also, to reiterate what others have said, you don't need to pay much for decor. We booked the beginning of June for an Oct 2011 wedding and most of the Fall was open except for one weekend. Also, if you get the pricing list from Katelyn, you might want to also ask for a Banquet Event Order form-which will show you what other couples spent on each items. It was really helpful to Jeff and I, because we way overestimated the prices when we first looked at the al a carte list. She even told us in our meeting that it was a little confusing. So it may be less expensive than you think.

Hey Alison, what week are you getting married? We are the 8th of next October, so it sounds like we are getting married right around the same time!

Congrats to both of you! Yes, one of the main reasons I want to use them is because it's already so beautiful. I sent an email yesterday to inquire about pricing so hoping to hear back soon. I'm sure both of your weddings will be perfect.

Hi! My wedding was several years, ago, but I was feeling nostalgic today and dropped into the board :). I love the Cincinnati Art Museum! However, we have been to a number of formal events there, both private and business oriented, and have always found them disappointing for reasons related to acoustics, logistics, regulations, and setup. For our wedding, to get the best of both worlds, we made a donation to the museum in order take a portion of our pictures there, but we were married elsewhere and held our reception elsewhere. In your case, this might be a good way to enjoy the venue but save money on your wedding and reception. I am sooo happy that we have the pictures that we took there. Whatever your decision, enjoy your day!

    Hi,
I looked at the CAM and it was gorgeous....not sure about pricing but do know there is a 5K rental fee.  Also, when I went to  see the space, they had music playing  (live) and the acoustics really concerned me....I ended up at the Netherland Hilton instead.  It's a really beautiful space though.....good luck!
