Hello everyone,  I'm almost done with work, but I'm super tired.  Probably TMI but I'm stressing over what to do about birth control, because I can't take the weight gain I've had and I blame at least half of it on that.

• I'd choose McDonalds too. I already had my fast food for the week though, so that's out.  I'm trying to limit myself to once a week to help keep pregnancy weight gain under control.
• I have been really bad about posting and then leaving today, sorry Poke! I would probably prefer "Glo" or something because I'm trying to avoid "Aryn" because after posting more it started to bother my that my real name was out there and Aryn is a pretty uncommon spelling. I'm not going to wig out on anyone calling me Aryn though.
• Lizzie - you have so many useful and helpful tips.

No, I am currently on the shot. But I want to get off of it or find something else, but it doesn't look like it is going to be possible.

• I chose MacDonalds.....I told H and he got all excited and asked for some stuff too.

But before I go....I will share with you that H's friend brought his didgeridoo and my cat freaked the hell out when he started playing it! hahahah
• i wernt ter ert a grerp per!

• Rsanna - Would you ever consider going off hormones and using a natural family planning?  I read "Taking Charge Of Your Fertility" and charted my temperatures and stuff for about a year before H and I got pregnant (on purpose).

I understand.  I think the shot has done that to me too. FI gets super nervous about getting pregnant and condoms haven't really worked. The only thing that I have thought about considering is an IUD but even then I'm not sure. The internet provides too many horror stories and I get a little freaked.

<div>That's too bad. I hope you're able to find something. My good friend was on the shot and she hated it. Not that that really means anything because you know, each person is different and all that.</div>
• Rsanna - Yay! Tell me what you think  : ).

Didgeridoo is such a freaking amazing word.

<div>This will possibly be tmi as well but I have been sexually active for 6ish years and was only on birth control for 3 months (it made me kinda insane). Not saying accidents don't happen but odds are you'll be safe. </div>
• Howdy!

All I have seen so far is that Holls uses condoms. Condoms suck. Hardcore. I hate those things. Uuuuuugh.

Yeah FI and I have had condoms break on us.

Loopy, that is something I would consider too.  I would be worried I would screw something out or something would go wrong. I just don't want kids, like ever and the thought of possibly being pregnant scares the fvck out of me. I prefer kids I can return, like my nephew.

If you don't get some of the really bad side effects, it's supposed to be much more effective. I'd imagine because it eliminates the whole user error thing that is the cause of most pregnancies on the pill.
• ner ern wernts a cernderm ter brerk.

• Fortunately I've never had a problem with hormonal BC and my sex drive. I also am not a fan of condoms.

Poke, will do. It is like the one meal I am seriously looking forward to this week.  I just got everything I needed for it yesterday and Saturday is the first day I have time to actually make it.

I also ditto the didgeridoo is an awesome word.

On the bright side, I did go to the doctor to make sure the weight gain isn't something besides the birth control. I've also been super tired lately and since my mom has thryoid problems she was worried that I could be developing something as well and we wanted to make sure.  So I will inevitably discuss options with my doctor and hopefully she has some insight/can calm my fears from internet horror stories.
In Response to Re: It's nighttime somewhere : Is this easy to do?
Posted by edielaura
<div>I thought it was.  The bulk of it is taking your basel body temperature first thing in the morning - like hit the alarm, take temp, get out of bed and tracking that every day.  After two or three months you start to see a pattern.  There's other signs your body gives that signal when you're fertile, so you can use back up methods (condoms or abstinence) during those times.  I didn't find it time consuming.  If you don't want to buy the book I mentioend above <a href="http://www.fertilityfriend.com" rel="nofollow">www.fertilityfriend.com</a> has a decent tutorial and will keep track of your temps for you.  They have an app for the iPhone and Droid, so I had it on my phone and tracked it there.  It takes a week or two to get used to taking your temp in the morning, but then it's habit.</div>
• Edie, you can also use a spermicide for back up with condoms.

Poor kitty!

Thanks! My momma taught them to me. Her parents went through the Great Depression and I guess she learned it from them.
• Good evening. Just finished with the elliptical, gotta finish up some exercises after I cool off a little.

I am super excited to discover that an Alamo Drafthouse is opening up a couple minutes down the road next year. Major score!

rsanna - have you considered Essure or a tubal? Maybe your H/FI getting snipped?
• Edie, It took me a REALLY long time to find a pill that didn't kill my sex drive. Ask for samples of what the doc has in the office - that way you're not spending tons of money on prescriptions. I didn't have to pay for BC for 2 years because I was the only person on campus using the BC that my doc had lots of samples for. That was niiiiiiice.

My doctor just switched me from the chewable kind of BC to the Seasonale stuff...so far so good. I figured I'd end up spotting or being miserable b/c that's how all of my friends have reacted to it...but I'm LOVING it. Brian does too =)
• We have the most interesting conversations here.
• Loopy - I'm glad to hear that natural family planning worked out for you guys. We originally wanted to do that, but I am just so nervous about getting pregnant during law school that I decided to start taking the pill just until I graduate, and then we'd start doing NFP. I don't have any bad side effects with hormonal BC, but I don't want to be on it long term.

<div>I was wondering this too. If you were concerned about ever changing your mind couldn't you get some of his sperm frozen? It might be a little extreme but just an option. </div>
