Our wedding is June 18th... we will be saying our own vows, followed by a set of traditional vows. The part in bold is mine; the other part is the standard set. Please critique as harshly as you please!
My dearest Aaron – From when I was a little girl, my parents always gave me this advice: they told me to marry someone interesting. They advised that no matter what difficulties may befall a relationship, good conversation and deep companionship keeps it going. That is why I feel so lucky to be marrying the most interesting man I’ve ever met, the greatest of conversationalists, and my very best friend. You provide me with so much laughter and happiness. You share new music, new books, and new ideas with me, and you let me do the same with you. I love our little adventures, from driving to Ikea for princess cakes to watching drunks fight on a NYC subway to drywalling the library ceiling for the third time in one summer. I love how interesting and interested you are. I love that you make me more interesting and interested. As we get married today, I promise to keep learning and growing with you. I promise to be the other half of your fascinating conversations. I promise that I’ll always keep sharing and listening. I love you, and I promise that I always will.
(Minister reads, with me repeating): I, Kasey, take you, Aaron, to be my husband; and I do promise to be your loving and faithful wife; for better, for worse; for richer, for poorer; in sickness and in health; so long as we both shall live.
