Wearing your e-ring on your right hand

So I have a pave engagement ring that's already been resized twice - once from a 7 to a 6, and once from a 6 to a 5.5ish.  FI is rightfully wary of resizing any more than we already have, but I'm really uncomfortable with how it fits now.

I'm left-handed, and I think as a result of that, my knuckles are much bigger than the base of my finger ... so while it's loose and slides easily (to the point of looking too big) when it's on my finger, it's extremely difficult and painful to remove, and almost impossible without water/lotion.

On my right hand, it fits snugly when on, and it comes off with a twist or two.

I'm not planning on wearing a wedding band, because it's not really traditional in my family, although my mind might change.  In FI's culture, it's traditional to wear your engagement and/or wedding rings on your right hand.

What do you think?

  • Wear it however is most comfortable for you! It's really not a big deal.

Yeah, do what is comfortable for you. But look into sizing options, like sizing beads or an insert to help the fit.

  • I see nothing wrong with wearing it on your right hand....my friend's parents are from Germany and they wear their wedding rings on their right hands.  Do whatever makes you comfortable and happy! :)

  • Ironically, my German friend wears her rings on the left, but her American husband wears his band on the right.

    Wear it where you want!

  • What I've learned is that having a ring on your finger means only as much as you want it to mean.  People who wear rings cheat, and people who don't wear rings are fiercely loyal.  It also isn't going to stop someone from flirting with you or your soon-to-be husband - some people have no shame.  So as far as HAVING to wear the ring on the left hand so people will know you're married, it's not necessary.  If you're more comfortable wearing the ring on the right hand, then do that!

  • I wear my e-ring on my right.  I also had an issue with sizing and it wound up fitting my right hand better than my left.  This actually worked out perfectly because I prefer my e-ring alone and probably wouldn't have worn it with a band anyway.  PIB.
