Wedding Woes

Rapture related eye-roll

One of my oldest friends who is part of the girl's weekend next week BBMed me to tell me to make sure that my son is baptized before tomorrow.

My reply: In case it's the end of the world?

She went on to say it's not the end of the world, it's judgement day and if he's not blessed he won't get into heaven. I reassured her that he had been blessed, and that was acceptable to her.

In an effort to veer away from the very out of character lunacy,  I noted a week from now we'd be in Myrtle Beach, and she responded, "Or in heaven."

Ok, crazycakes.

Ask if you can have her beer if she's in heaven.

If she's there, you probably don't want to go.

It caught me really off guard, because she is Catholic and by no means religious. I think she might just be a little nervous about this for whatever reason.

She never judgmental or crazy Christian bible beater or anything like that.

We've been friends for like 12 years. She was in my wedding, and she loves my husband. Her mom is half Jewish, half Catholic, so it's not as if she's unfamiliar with this. I think someone crazy must be buzzing in her ear, or she did some late night googling.

    That is ridiculous. Wow.

However, no one knows the day or the hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. (NLT, Matthew 24:36)

You realize that this isn't the part that makes it ridiculous, right?

But it kinda is the part that makes it all ridiculous. The people who started this whole shenanigan are Christians. And the Bible says that only God knows. Not even the angels or Jesus know. It is ridiculous that not only would they believe some common man knows better than the Lord, but they would actually start trying to "save" people on behalf of this non-sense.
