What Style are you wearing on your special day?

Hey Ladies,

Ok, so my wedding is not till 6/11/2011 and for some reason i am not in a rush to start dress shopping (don't know if this is good or bad, lol). I feel like i have time and i change my mind so much so i don't want to rush into it. I am just trying to figure out what dress style would look best on me. I am 5,2, and around 120 pounds and am more bottom heavy. I am thinking a mermaid would look better on me.

What style are you ladies wearing on your special day?

The only way really for you to figure out what style looks best on you is to try different styles on. You dont have to buy now, since you say that you change your mind so much. But that will give you a sense of what you are looking for when you do decide to seriously look &  buy.

I guess mines is a ball gown cut. Strapless and fitted bodice and the puff at the bottom. I was lucky, because it was actually the first dress that I tried on. I tried on a few others, but came right back to that one.

I agree.  A mermaid or modified a-line/drop waist would look great on you!  We're similar in size (I'm 5'3", 117 lbs) and thats the dress style I have.  Whenever you do decide to start shopping try on all different styles though but I think the mermaid would look fab on you, plus it accentuates the booty! lol

I'm wearing a mermaid style, which I think looks good on a a person who is bottom heavy like me.

I feel your pain because I'm small-chested too. I got my dress from David's Bridal and my consultant told me I was one size on top and a lot bigger on bottom lol.

I agree with Ksturgis.  I think that the best way to figure out what looks best on your body is to try on different dresses.  The sales persons at the bridal boutiques can help you find something to fit your body type.  I would also suggest flipping through bridal magazines to look for the style of dresses you like.  I knew early on that I wanted a simple, classic elegant look.  I really want to look like me on my special day.  My everyday style is classic elegant with a trendy edge, so that's what I was going for on my wedding day.  My dress is A-Line because I am 5'3" and I also have a booty and hips (a lil') I think that A-Line is the best look for my body type.  I purchased my dress from the Brides Against Brest Cancer gown sale.
