Do We Need Wedding Programs?

I wrote out a program and was all set to order it on etsy, but then I got to thinking - Do we really need the added expense and wasted paper of programs? My only hesitation is for older guests and to thank people for coming, but maybe we can do that one on one in person during dinner?

We're having a very short secular ceremony with one reader who has an easy passage of about 20 lines. Going all the way through the entire ceremony takes 8 minutes. We have no bridal party. Our officiant and FI will already be standing up front and I'm the only one walking down the aisle.

Re: Do We Need Wedding Programs?

  • Probably not necessary, unless you want them. If you want to acknowledge people, you can always do a short toast at the reception. Another idea would be to write up a short, one page thing and print them out at home (even if it's a half sheet or something). That would still be paper used, but it would likely be cheaper.
  • I would say it's not necessary! Unless it's something important to you.
