    • Birdcage Veil, check!
    • Mongram, check!
    • Boring Cake, check!
    • MOH/Bm's tanks, check!
    • Bad DIY, check! My cake box was horrific but I made it the night before and had no back up

    • Matching BM's shoes (although not dyeables), check!
    • Photoshare cards, check!

I'm on a roll...let's see if i can get any more.  although, I must say, I don't know how birdcage veils are "overdone" considering I only know of ONE other bride that currently posts on here that is wearing one, Tiff you don't like it that's perfectly fine, but i don't get overdone at all

Cake topper- Never occured to me that someone wouldn't like this

Tossed garter and Tossed bouquet - I know some people hate it, but I like it

Poems- for my RD invite- infact I've gotten a ton of people asking me to borrow the poem for their invites, LOL

DJ Giveaways- I didn’t plan this but my COUSIN brought her own blowup instruments- HAHA- yes, I know people hate this as do I! I couldn't stress about it at the time

Bubbles- I didn't want to do them but was so happy I did because the pictures were fun

Uplighting- I always really liked it and I never thought someone else wouldn't

Photobooth that wasn’t a real photobooth- I was never at a wedding where someone did this before me.

Slideshow- I know knotties complain about them, but I LOVE watching other people's and I like looking at pictures in general

Tall vase with lights in them- Didn't occur to me that someone would hate this

Bridal party tunnel- Never even thought about it. When we were introduced the bridal party was assembled. It was fun and made a cute picture.

Aisle runner- I had a plain one. I never thought much about it

Matchy invite/menus/placecards- Never thought someone might hate it. I got a lot of complements on my "attention to detail"

    love it =)

I'm not married yet, but here are things I'm doing that coud be considered trendy or that people might not like. But I love 'em, so I don't care ;-)

    -colored shoes
-birdcage veil with a feather flower fascinator
    -bubbles
    -weird wordy invites
    -weird wordy RSVP cards

hmmm... I'm sure there are more ;-) Maybe our "Catholic Gap Photo Scavener Hunt." We doubt anyone willl actaully do it, but we think it's fun...

    Ooh let's not forget....

    •  Tossed Garter
    • Tossed Bouquet
    • Poems (stole my RD one from Tif, so...)
    • Matchy placecards/menus
    • 2nd dress

I think besides a tiara (although my veil is hated apparently) and my no-pickups dress I've covered every single thing on that list

Kris- not that I'm kissing your butt, but you actually looked good with the birdcage veil because it fits your style and your haircut.

My dislike of them came from someone I saw on FB (not a knottie) who was in this ultra traditional dress with a birdcage veil and it just looked so off and "costumey" to me.

I plan on wearing a tiara

some people might hate it and I'm ok with that. (love the new pip function)

I bought the girls BM/MOH tanks

Uplighting - I'm doing it and I think lighting changes a room so much.

FI is a graphic designer and he designed our invites, menus, and monogram and they are pretty matching. So far we have gotten compliments.

I'm sure there will be more as the list on the other post grows....

Before I get to what I am doing
Kristen-I love birdcage veils and if it suited me at all I would have gotten one. The pic of you on the other thread in it is amazing.

Im doing uplighting and probably going a little overboard with it especially in the ceremony room.
I will probably have photobooth but I dont know if it will be a real one or not yet.
Having a black tie on a sunday. I know it bothers some people but its a Jewish wedding and not that uncommon.
I am planning on getting everyone matching outfits to wear when we are getting ready but I already knew people didnt like this. I just thought it would look cute in pics.
Im sure Ill have a boring cake because I dont care about it that much.

I never gave any thought to what other people didnt like and dont plan on starting now.

oh and I hater of the monogram have a logo to go on my ice sculpture and my cigars and matches.

Edited to add:  My biggest offense will be my baseball themed wedding.  i am not going brad overboard but my guest book is a baseball bat and my colors are orange and blue.  Thats about where I draw the line.

Oh wow - where do I start.  We had:

    monogram
    cake toppers
    bouquet toss/garter toss
    DJ give-aways
    uplighting
    rhinestones on invitation/escort tags
    slideshow - we had 3!!
    bridal party "pyramid"

I knew some people would not like these things - there are always people who will disagree.  So, no, I'm not surprised either.  And, I wouldn't change a thing!!  People still have the DJ give-aways at their houses - well, mostly the kids are playing with them but they were really a hit...haha.  :)

    let's see

theme wedding (although, i don't think it was so over-the-top-in-your-face)
bubbles (and that biodegradable rice stuff)
    bridal party tunnel
    bouquet toss
    garter toss
leaning in front of the cake kissing photo
tiara (altho, it was more like a headband, it didn't have height to it)
photoshare cards (which, worked out well i think, besides me putting the dj pics and our hm pics up, i had quite a few people load their pictures)

the photog with the dj took some of those focus on the flowers with us in the background
and lets not forget my candy centerpieces.....oh my!
oh...and i had a monogram on the center vase of our centerpieces....

Thanks Tiff & F...I <3 birdcage veils big time  - I just didn't get the overdone comment that was all, if anything to me - they're highly underdone not that it even matters one single bit

Oooh I thought of another - day after photos, we're doing 'em

I don't understand why people hate some of the things they do. I mean honestly, how many times do you get to throw a bouquet or do a garter toss? How many huge cakes are you going to have in your lifetime? I'm all into details, but I have NEVER gone to a wedding and said OMG those matching menues are so tacky.

That being said, I for one would NEVER wear a tiara. Those are for little girls and sweet sixteens. You're not a princess you're a bride. However, I will have my monogram on almost everything (invites, menues, etc) because it's MY wedding day. I'm DIY for everything paper and don't think DIY is tacky because some people just don't have the money to waste on things like that. Bubbles will be blown when I leave the church and my favors are from a photobooth. Half of those tacky ideas from that other thread I got from The Knot and love them.

My bridesmaids are wearing matchy matchy dresses.

I'm wearing silver shoes (not sure if that counts in the colored shoe hatred)

I might do the bouquet toss (not doing the garter)

Jamie- I think we all become "haters" when we knot day in and day out and then are asked things we don't like.

Before I started planning my wedding, I literally would not be able to tell you what kind of centerpieces a wedding had, whether there place cards matched the invites, or what kind of shoes the bride was wearing. I don't remember a single wedding cake.

Now- with the constant immersion, I go to weddings and like eye up the menus! It's bad and it's distracting! Who the F' cares?

All that ever mattered to me in the past was if I had a good time. For me, a good time equals people I enjoy being with, free flowing drinks, and good music :)

I had a dress with pickups.

I will admit I  thought they were so ugly.  Then tried every style on and gasped for joy when I put it on.

Monogram (that I used a lot).  it actually wasn't our idea.  We told our invitation designer that we wanted something clean and preppy.  What is preppier than a simple monogram?

Matchy-matchy.  Although I like to think that things were coordinating rather than matching.  And I'm REALLY happy how it turned out.

Bouquet toss.  But is that really a trend?  We did not do a garter toss.

I haven't had my wedding yet but its on a Sunday, so there's one.

And my dress has a sash on it - although one thats just a little darker than the rest of the dress, not red or anything.

I'm sure I'll add other things people hate in the coming months :)

Hey, if we all liked the same things our weddings would all look the same, wouldn't that be boring!

And Justkris - when I said overdone I meant more what Tiff was saying. Not here but in other places I've seen girls wear them with dresses that they don't go with at all just because they're trying to be "vintage". Yours looked really nice with your dress, actually.

I definitely have quite a few:

Bouquet and Garter toss - I have no idea why people hate this.  To me it's tradition so I'm definitely having both!

Aisle runner - I thought this was something people typically have...didn't realize it was hated.

Uplighting - I think it makes the room look so much nicer.

Slideshow - I've always loved slideshows at any type of function...and they're always tearjerkers.

Monogram - I didn't even think about this, but our invitation person created this for our invitations and I love it!

And I think I may win for the worst.  Not only am I having a cake topper...but it's a Mickey and Minnie as bride and groom cake topper!!  I don't care how tacky people may think it is, I just have to have my Disney cake.

I had matching bridesmaids dresses, uplighting, tall vases with lighting, photoshare cards, caketopper and they were all the bomb!

Like they say "opinions are like ass*_holes, everyone has one".  If someone wants to have a boring wedding, go right ahead, I'll have my fun, colorful, light up wedding anyday :-)
