Snarky Brides

Bitchy Brides

Many posts on this community relate to etiquette. And many of the responses to the questions are downright rude.
How can someone who is so rude and demeaning be considered a trusted source for etiquette advice?
Is it really necessary to make someone feel bad about themselves for asking a question?
Yes, people who post here want opinions, but those who respond and disagree should be able to do so politely. How is that so hard?

So you posted the same question on two different boards and got an overwhelming "this is rude, don't do this." That = bitchy brides? People were responding in kind to the rudeness of your ceremony only invite idea. I was appalled as well upon reading it. Trust me, it is much better that you hear the truth bluntly on a board like this, than later after you've offended your friends and loved ones.

And this whiny "why can't people be nicer?!?" topic gets posted on this board about once a week, so you're probably just going to get more of the same "bitchiness" you're complaining about as a result of making this thread. Good luck with that.

  • This is the Snarky brides board. Do you know what snarky means?
AS for other boards, everyone can have their opinion and state it however they wish. Sometimes saying things nicely doesn't get the point across.

Seriously? Another one of these ridiculous threads? Seriously? And yeah. You  got bitchy responses because your idea about a big ceremony and small reception was beyond asinine.
  • I'll say what I said to the last person complaining about how people are rude and can't say everything nicely. . . Would you seriously rather us totally agree with you then your aunts and grandma saying after the wedding how simply rude it is to do this or that.  I myself would rather get grilled on here and know the general population of the world would think what I want to do is rude so I can change it, then doing it and grandma being put off by how rude I am.

What would you say to a bride that required her 125 guests to pay for their own food, I've seen it,  my aunt of all people required everyone to pay for their food at her reception so she didn't have to foot the bill, grandma didn't speak to her for months and aunt's still not comfortable at family gatherings because of how she handled it.  If the Knot would have been around 10 years ago like it is today then my aunt would have realized what she was doing was beyond stupid

The delivery of the appropriate etiquette advice has nothing to do with its accuracy.

  • Oh, btw, I see what you have your knickers in a twist over, and your goal to fill up a church and personally invite a bunch of people to your ceremony and not your reception is incredibly rude. The ladies pretty much just told you what what your "good enough to be a body in a pew, but not good enough to actually feed" guests are going to be thinking.

For future reference, there is a huge difference between "being rude" and "not spouting pure validation".

  • Based on your post on E, I think you need to realize what is and isn't appropriate at all.

The responses were based on how awful a tiered reception is.  Imagine if those were your guests!  Wouldn't you want to know in advance that's something's a bad idea?
  • op

Seriously?! You had a really really tacky/ horrible/ rude idea (probably to save money on feeding guests) so people reacted. Welcome to the internet. Have you ever posted on internet forums before? Before you whine about TK, try Fark or any normal forum.

  • Accountabilty? I actually LOL at that one. Calling fellow posters out? Another LOL there. I mean reallly. You all know who you are for Christ's sakes! Who has the time for this shi* LOL The bottom line is...duh. There are some really mean nasty women on here posting. You know who you are. I'm not talking about constructive advice. Your posts cross that line...wayyyy over. It's just a shock for us new posters when we come across them. I for one was thinking, okay, someones is just having a bad day or there are a couple of not so classy people on here but then...I was seeing this over and over on many topics. Now it's just funny. Once you get over the shock of realizing this is real...this kind of person really does exist and there are multiples of you, then it just gets boring. You defend yourselves bla bla bla. But it definately is intertaining. Back to the Cricut.
  • And it's perfectly acceptable to insult an entire group of people.

But snarky advice?  No THAT is bad.

Is any one else getting to the point where they feel less annoyed by self entitled, whining brides but MORE annoyed by people who can not formulate a logical, coherent argument?

  • I just wish they'd use all of this "I'm going to save the world" type of energy for something that is actually good like saving puppies or whales. They are just wasting it on us.
  • Well...the papers were signed (it's amazing what a hired merc can accomplish) and I was worried all for nuthin so yay for me but I have another dilemma. My son Steven wants to become Stephanie and move forward with his gender reassignment surgery before the wedding. I think he should wait. I mean there is a lot of healing involved and I want him to be able to walk me down the isle, know what I mean? What do you think?

Why are you talking him to an Isle? Why do you need him to walk you around it, can't you walk on your own?
