Shipping a car

Does anyone have any reccomendations for a company for shipping your car? Has anyone done this before? I'm going from the west coast to the east coast and everything I'm finding is around a grand.

Re: Shipping a car

  • We shipped a car from the east coast to the west coast 2 years ago and paid $1,000.  That was by far the cheapest quote we found, as all others started at at least $1,300 and went up.  You'll pay more if you want it shipped covered instead of on a regular trailer.  I honestly don't remember the name of the company we used, but I can say that $1,000 is a good price for cross country, and I highly doubt you'll find lower.

  • Yeah a grand sounds reasonable to me. I wouldn't expect you'd find anything lower.

  • I think that's pretty average.  We looked in to shipping my car when I moved to CA.  We ended up driving across country instead.

  • Thanks everyone! Ya the cheapest I've come across is $990. A whopping ten dollars under $1,000! haha. I drove my car out here, and it already has over 110,000 miles on it so I don't want to put another 3,000 on for basically no reason. I also figure with the price of hotels and gas it will just about even out.
  • It's still going for $1000 with most companies.  Just be prepared to wash it when you get it back :-)
