What's on your wedding menu?

Hey ladies,

I am meeting with the cater soon to sign the contract. When he did a tasting for us he did stuffed chicken breast, salmon ( i don't eat beef or pork) asparagus and rice. I was completely satisfied. Although I have a while to go to actually decide, I was wondering what was on ya'll list.

I do need some ideas for the coctail hour

And cake flavors.. what does your cake look like? Square, circle 3 tier, how many flavors do you have? I have my first cake tasting to tomorrow, not sure what to ask or even what I want. LOL

  • Our wedding is in the back of an italian restaraunt so they're doing the food. Ours is:


    Mostaccioli pasta with our family recipe spaghetti sauce
    Chicken wings
    Italian sausage & bell peppers
    Tender baked chicken
    Italian salad
    Garlic toast
    Cheese & cracker appetizer tray
    Fruit tray
    Soda, Juice & Coffee

    We don't know about our cake yet.

    On our menu we are having
    Passed Hor' dourves:
    crawfish pies
    grilled shrimp
    assorted sandwiches on skewers

    Buffet Menu:
    Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya <--def not a fav of mine but that what Fiance wants
    Beef Brisket
    Chicken Drummettes
    Candied Yams
    Green Beans
    Rolls
    Fried Catfish
    Fruit
    Corn Machoux
    My caterer is making a yellow type puch...I forget what she calls it but it's sooo good. Yummy to my Tummy!!!

    Just regular wedding Cake with buttercream icing...no special flavors or anything like that.

  • i am still looking for a venue but why come does my FI want to do cupcakes instead of a wedding cake
    WRONG homie..... ion like cup cakes like that grrr how about you give me your guest list

  • For our menu, it sounds quite like yours Im not going to give you all the fancy descriptions the caterer has on the menu...it's just chicken and salmon, some type of rice and this potato piped onion. 

    As for cake, we have 3 tiers thus far, may increase if our final count is more. All round tiers, largest tier is red velvet, tier 2 is almond, tier 3 is Devil's Food.

    Lol! so does mine!!!! but i'm slowly trying to talk him out of it. My MOH and I will be cake testing shortly i'm going to take pics and show him of the AWESOME tiered cakes while shoveling pieces of cake in his mouth to get him to change his mind lol.

    and Thanks! Our place is crazy cheap and their sausage and peppers is actually BOMB.

    Apps: Mini crab cakes Orange marmalade meatballs(supper tasty) Coconut chicken strips (fried) Buffalo chicken sliders Hamburger sliders Fruit and cheese tray Entrees: Guest choice of Champagne chicken breast with potato and veggie medley Or Roasted beef tenderloin with rosemary/garlic sauce( I liked this better than the chicken, but the chicken is still good though )

    our cake is cupcakes with a small round cake for us to cut into.
    flavors..red velvet, chocolate, and yellow with cream cheese frosting !!

    Cake is 4 tiers. The bottom is square and the top 3 are round. All Amaretto cake tiers with different fillings: cherry, boston cream, fresh strawberries & cream and chocolate whip cream

  • I left my menu at home so I can't remember everything but UM YEAH you ladies got me thinking about dinner already...at 8;45 in the morning so THANK YOU lol

    I can share the cake though...we are having alternating tiers of chocolate (my fave) and red velvet (FI's fave)...

    Ours isn't set in stone yet, but this is what we're thinking of:

    Passed Hors Devoures
    Sun Dried Tomato and Feta in Phyllo OR Chicken Dijon in Puff Pastry
    Key Lime Salmon Skewers
    Oven Roasted Mushroom Caps with Baby Spinach and Cheese

    Mixed Greens Salad
    Still deciding on the Chicken Dish but right now I'm between the
    Chicken Wellington or the Wild Mushroom Stuffed Chicken (if I do the stuffed chicken, then I wouldn't do the mushroom caps....no need for mushroom overload)
    Vegetable Rice Pilaf or Garlic Parm Mashed Potatoes
    Glazed Asparagus

    Coffee, tea, water, lemonade....and left over drinks from bar.

    Traditional and Po-Boy style overstuffed sandwiches
    Softshell crab
    Filet Mignon Steak Kabobs
    Artichoke Bread- which we are changing to crawfish bread
    Louisiana Lump Crabmeat Canape

    Stuffed Bell Peppers
    Assorted Cheeses

    Action Pasta Bar
    and Martini Potato bar

    two open bars full bars that is serving everything and champagne for all guests for the toast!

    Our Caterer is New Orleans Catering  I am drooling just thinking about the tasting we had. The food was unbelievable to both of us. 
    We are having hand passed appetizers and buffet stations

    We are going with the premium bar because his folks really like to drink. My family is not so much, but he claims his family will definitely over drink & make up the difference for my family that doesn't drink so it should balance all out. LOL

    PASSED HORS D'OEUVRES
    Crab Cakes with Bearnaise Sauce
    Marinated Petit Rib Eyes
    Shrimp & Andouille Sausage Kabob
    Fried Catfish Bites with Cajun Tartar Sauce

    COCKTAIL BUFFET 
    International Cheese & Fruit Display
    Crabmeat Charlene with Crackers

    DINNER
    Seafood Gumbo
    Chicken & Andouille Jambalaya
    Deep Fried Turkey with Cranberry Relish & French Rolls
    Shrimp Napoleon with Roasted Cheese Grits

    DESSERT STATION
    Bananas Foster Bread Pudding 

    After tasting the dessert it was so good, we decided to change our wedding cake order and get a smaller wedding cake(removing one of the tiers), because we are going to have a grooms cake as well so guests will have 3 choices. The grooms cake is chocolate, the wedding cake is butter flavor with (raspberry, lemon, and strawberry filling) and butter cream icing. Guests will have 3 very different dessert choices.
