just happened to one of the girls in the office, and she barely squeezed out a thank you. But the silence follwoing her exit was awkward.

hey my fi's mom said "oh cute" and my mom said "pretty"
i think the fi was looking for a bigger reaction - i love it and i don't care what people say...
was the coworker maybe jealous or annoyed with the gushing of attention (i work in an office and tried being low key, but two of my other coworkers took it upon themselves to make a big deal out of it)

Poor girl.
I mean if someone's going to say it THAT way, that's just kinda condescending.
Personally, I'd rather have a teeny tiny genuine diamond in a "cute" setting than a gaudy and huge fake thing that looks real.

I'm leaning towards this. Especially since we we're all just hanging out in the main office after a meeting (e-ring girl JUST got engaged over the w/e) so a lot of people are just getting wind of it.

hopefully your coworker didn't let it get to her....office politics gotta love it
A temp worker said something similar to mine (it is not a diamond) and followed it with a judgemental "oohh" and I said - I picked it out! She changed her tune after that.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew

I did pull Miss.Nasty to the side, and say WTF? her response...'WHAT? I can BARELY see it. Little things like that are cute'. I can't wait to see what she gets!!! (IF she ever does get engaged...1st you need someone to wanna' marry you, and she's been single since I met her...wonder why? lol)
I never understood women being jealous of someone who is engaged or in a relationship. But then again, I never felt being in a relationship was needed in order to validate yourself.

that's a new 1, I haven't heard anyone say that. I guess it's on the same wavelength as cute?
the tone was unamusing to say the least. Definitely an awkward silence after, not to mention when I called her on it her attitude was completely indifferent.
