Chair rentals

My fiancee and I checked out a place today that we LOVE, and I'm pretty sure we're going to go with it.  It's an adorable nursery in Pontiac, and they'll provide 18 banquet tables, plates and glasses.  I'm looking for chairs, now, and I really like those wooden folding ones.  I found a site that rents natural wood ones as well as white, and the natural wood style are set at $1.50 each.  !!!  That's the best price I've ever seen ever.  Anyway, they deliver to everywhere in Oakland County EXCEPT Pontiac.  So my question is: is it appropriate, or even possible, to barter with these vendors?  I want those chairs.

Re: Chair rentals

  • I just planned my daughter's graduation party and rented chairs. It was $1.50 for white metal & plastic folding chairs, $1.35 for brown metal & plastic. I sincerely doubt you are going to find anything less than $1.50 for wood. Maybe someone else has a better vendor they've used.
  • I'm assuming you're talking about Goldner Walsh. I don't know why they would have a problem delivering there. It's right on Orchard Lake Road. It's not like it's downtown with parking issues and lots of stairs like the Lafayette Grand.

Maybe if you gave them the name and number of your contact at the venue, they could answer any questions. I did that with our valet company. I let them work out the details with the venue coordinator. They could be missing out on a lot of business if Goldner Walsh requires people to rent chairs from an outside vendor. Is there a rental vendor they usually work with?

You could try to haggle, but it's been my experience that people just tell me to go with the cheaper place. I gave my linen quote to my coordinator, and she wasn't willing to match it, for example. But it doesn't hurt to try.

</div><div>Yes, I'm talking about Goldner Walsh -- and it does seem like total crap that this place won't delive to Pontiac.  I will definitely call them and see what size stick is up their collective ass, and maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised!

  • I agree- I would try one more time to ask them if they will deliver there. If they dont, ask your venue coordinator who their preferred chair vendor is or who other brides there use. We were going to need to rent chairs at our ceremony venue- my contact had a whole list of vendors that other brides have used. A perk of going this route is that the companies have already been there and know how to set it up like it is supposed to be set up.

  • What website did you find the wood chairs for $1.50 on? That's a great deal!
  • Danielle,
