Can't decide between 2 venues!

Hey ladies,
I'm trying to decide between the Royal Manor in Garfield NJ and Woodcliff Manor in Woodcliff Lakes, NJ.  They are very different but both have things i LOVE about each.  I'm getting married on November 7th 2010, and i'm only expecting about 50 guests. I was hoping for some reviews of either or both to help me make my decision.  So if you know anything about either, I would appreciate the help!

Thanks!!

honestly, i was traumatized when i went to woodcliff manor. the bar was odd and tacky looking and everything about it hadnt been redone for 30 years it seemed. it was run down. i would choose the other venue in a heartbeat.

I don't normally post but...my venue is The Royal Manor.  I wasn't sure at first if I should book it because it seemed nobody knew anything about it.  As far as the way it looks, it was recently completely remodeled and it does look very nice.

I've been dealing with Doug and he's been great.  I have a tasting there in March so I can't say anything as far as the food just yet.  Like you, I am also having 50 people.  I had a really hard time when I was looking for a venue because of the low number of guests, but they didn't have any issues with it (and we are having it on a Saturday night).

I don't know anything about Woodcliff Manor.  I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.

I visited the Woodcliff Manor and I work a few places down from the Royal Manor.

I hated the Woodcliff Manor. The owner was extremely rude to me and my FH when we went to look at venues. It's also very outdated, and did not smell clean what-so-ever. (There was to be an event in a few hours and it stunk of old oil, and there was A LOT of garbage on the floor, especially that he said that there was an event 2 days prior). Bathrooms were dirty. (That's a really big thing. If you check out the bathrooms and they are not clean when having prospective clients, I think it's a bad sign.)

Royal Manor is pretty nice on the inside, I have to say. We have functions for work there. The prices are good, the food (depending on what you get) is pretty good. It's a nice price. If it's between those two venues, the Royal Manor is a good idea.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Hi I've never been to woodcliff manor so I can't comment on that one but for Royal Manor, while the inside is nice we were turned off by the neighborhood/surrounding area.  It was right next to a dunkin donughts and across the street from a playground.  The building just seemed misplaced.

I am also having a small wedding of 50 and had difficulty finding a venue that would take us on a Saturday but what I found is that if you wait till about 5-6 months before your wedding date the venues become more flexible because they want to fill the vacancy.  Thats how we lucked out and booked ours at the addison park in Aberdeen.

Thanks for all the great advice ladies!  We did end up booking at The Royal Manor.  They offered us a great deal and we fell in love when we saw it again.

Arelyn26 - We did a food tasting a few weeks ago and were very impressed!  If you do end up booking there, check out Golden Note Entertainment for your DJ (if you're doing that) Doug is actually using them for his wedding (I heard from the DJ) so they must be good, and I actually saw them live yesterday at a bridal show, and they were so much fun and so professional!
