Oahu Day-Of Coordinator

I'm looking for a reasonably priced but GREAT day of coordinator for my July wedding.  I can't believe how expensive they are! I spoke to someone who was JUST starting out, and her rate was 1000 a day! I found another planner that was 1000 a day (2 people) and there was another planner who was recommended to me who hasn't answered any of my phone calls OR emails (about 4 now).  How irritating.  I also went to a wedding expo, signed up for information from another planner, and didn't receive any e-mail or call! I guess I can cross her off my list.

If you have a coordinator, who are you using and what are their rates like?

Thanks in advance!

I am working with Lissa WIlson of The Wedding Planners- We have been working with her for a little over one year and she is wonderful- I am not sure what her daily cost is but so far-we love her  =)

I had KathE Garcia for our DOC and she did a fabulous job! If anything wrong went down, I had no idea. She handled everything very well, from set-up to contacting and paying off my vendors. I think she was about $1250, so it sounds like that range $1K is pretty standard. I chose her also because with her price came unlimited email consultation, and I totally took advantage of that! She came up with a lot of good suggestions and was very organized.

Do you know anyone personally who could help with this? Basic responsibilities would be to oversee vendors and make sure the reception goes along smoothly.

we used Hawaii Weddings and Events for full service planning, but they also had day-of packages.  I am not sure what their rates are but they prepared a very detailed timeline and we didn't have to worry about anything on the wedding day.    www.hawaiiweddingsandevents.com

    Thanks everyone!!

KathE came highly recommended, but unfortunately didn't return my calls or e-mail.  I even checked my SPAM folder to see if I missed something - nope :(

A good friend used Hawaii Weddings and Events, and I know that Dianna coordinates a lot of weddings.  I think her rates have gone up and she is more than $1000.  I thought she was sweet and capable, but I'm not sure that I'd want to use her.

Coincidentally, right after I posted this, the wedding planner from the bridal show called me.

I think I'm throwing in the towel and will get a friend to plan the wedding; I am really turned off by the lack of responsiveness by wedding vendors in general, but you'd think a planner would be the most responsive. Especially when they are charging $1000-2000+ for one day.

I hear ya, I'm totally struggling with the whole laid back super chill aloha vendors that are Slooooow to reply, i'm an impatient lil bride and want it all booked and done, like now. I considered a wedding planner too but couldn't see forkin out $1000+, instead i'm paying for airfaire ($500) and having my super organized trustworthy friend run the show on the day of the wedding. Good luck!

We used Alicia Hollinger of Milestone Events.  She was excellent, but her rates are probably also around $1000 depending on what you need.  However, she was invaluable, and really helped us out.   She always responded quickly to my emails, so maybe you will have better luck trying to contact her than some of the other vendors.
