Early Bridal Shower Gifts

My bridal shower is in two weeks,but I have started receiving gifts from OOT guests who won't be able to make it.

Do I open them now and put them to good use? or do I bring them all to the bridal shower and open them there?

Open them and send a thank you card, but don't take them out of boxes or start to use them until after the wedding.

Open them and send the thank you's right away, but don't use anything until after the wedding. I was always told to even open the boxes to make sure the product is intact/in good condition, but still don't use the item until you're married.

I would open them up at bridal shower

Open them now and send the thank yous right away, so they will know you got the present.

Then you can display them at the shower if you want. I wouldn't use them until the wedding, but it's not that big of a deal if you are already living together.

This kind of seems AWish to me, could just be me though.

And also, the shower is two weeks away. The thank you should be sent right away, but she can't do that if she waits two weeks to open it. The gift giver might be expecting the thank you sooner than that.

I would think its a bit of an annoyance to tote them to and from the shower location... I also think its appropriate to send a thank you as soon as possible - its polite to acknowledge your gracious receipt so that the gift-giver can feel good about it.

Thanks for all the input,it seems fairly unanimous. My FI and I will open them when he gets home,and send thank you notes immediately.

It's just weird because I've been to a couple bridal showers where there are gifts of people OOT. I thought it was strange,but then I though maybe it was tradition.

Unless the gift came with a note to open at the shower, I'd open it at home so you don't have to lug it to the shower then back home again.

I've seen brides save the present from the FMIL or MOH to open at the shower, but from random friends and relatives, it's a hassle, and the shower guests will appreciate a slightly shorter duration of gift opening.
