Two brothers, same honeymoon?!

So my fiancee has decided to elope and I have always wanted to go to Gatlinburg, Tn. Since we have never been, I thought it would be perfect for a cabin and have fun during the weekend with all the attractions. But I found out that his brother and his wife did their honeymoon there 2 years ago. Now I feel like we can't go there because they have already had the cute pics and their memories. I don't want my in laws to think we are copying them. :/  I'm at a loss now, I just looked at their pics and I feel like we can't even take the same kind of pics without being judged for copying. Any ideas ladies? Am I overthinking this too much or should I change my elopment and honeymoon destination? Thanks in advance!

  • stop worrying about this and do what you want.
they will take it as flattering becuase you loved their pics so much.

and you'll have your own pics and memories. if you spend it wondering if they had pics taken there you'll miss the fun of your HM worrying abotu something silly.

  • I don't think you inlaws will judge you for copying.  Because you are different people, you will have different photos, experiences & memories.  If that's what you want to do, do it & stop worrying about what other people are saying.

When they have kids are you going to not have kids because they already did that?

  • Go on a honeymoon no matter what you want to do. Who cares what people think. I honestly think that you are more concerned about having the same honeymoon as them then they would be of you going to the same place. Go and enjoy yourself, it is a celebration of your life together and start it the way you want. Stop worrying about everyone else and suppress all of your feelings of 'gotta be different'.

  • Are you going to use the rule of "we can't go anywhere that BIL and wife have been" for every vacation you plan to go on?

This is ridiculous.  You are an entirely different couple.  Even if they had just HM'd there 2 weeks ago it shouldn't matter.  You should do what makes you and your FI happy and if this means going to the same HM spot as your BIL and his wife then do it.

Stop worrying what other people think.

  • I mean this in the nicest way possible, but that's completely crazy.  People go on vacations, honeymoons, etc to the same places all the time.

I mean, H and I got engaged in Hawaii, I would find it insane if any of my family or friends decided not to do something special in Hawaii just because I did.  In fact, I love Hawaii so much, I urge everyone to go there any possible time I can.  I'm willing to bet that your FBIL and his wife loved it in Gatlinburg and would be excited for you to experience it too.

  • Thanks ladies! I really needed that, I guess with everything coming up so fast I let my mind go a little crazy. I just want to make sure we have our own personal memories and have a wonderful time!

  • I thought this was going to be about brothers wanting to take their honeymoons together with their wives... That would be weird. This isn't.

of course you'll have your own memories-you wont have theirs.

if you have a wonderful time depends on the 2 of you no matter where you go-not the destionation.

    stop this crazy already:)
