Cardigan with wedding dress?

I'm a size 18 and love my body but my bare arms never seem to translate correctly in photos - I rarely like how they look. Because of this, my love of cardigans, and the fact that the FI and I are getting married on top of a mountain, I am considering wearing a cute cardi over my dress. Have any of you worn a cardigan with your wedding dress? If so, do you have any pics you wouldn't mind sharing (to get a feel for dress styles with a cardi)? Thanks!

I saw some pics with dresses with cardigans.... and, although, they didn't look "BAD", they really toned down the formality of the gowns. there are lots of different types of bolero jackets or shrugs that looked so much nicer. the pics with the cardigans looked very very informal, even when the gown was super elaborate and formal.

Oh my goodness, I didn't even think to Google pics! I feel so stupid, lol (that or it's a sign that I need this work day to end asap!).

As far as the formality is concerned, it's not an issue... we're actually eloping and it'll just be us on top of a mountain without any other guests. We're both very laid-back and are going for a casual feel, but I still want to look like a bride if that makes sense. I haven't tried on a jacket yet, but I'm not crazy about how they look. We'll see!

Try one of the more lacy or sheer bolero jackets. They look really nice and may give you the coverage you are looking for.

I would try to find something a bit more formal than a cardigan. If I were looking at your wedding photos, I'd probably notice the cardigan MUCH more than your bare arms. We're our own worst critics too.

Our first wedding date was suppose to be March 30th and I purchased a beautiful black dressy cardigan with silver threads running through it. It was a little thing not the bulky cardigan I think most people imagine when you use that word. Now that we're getting married June 16th I am wearing a sheer bolero black with little silver threads. Keep in mind my dress is silvery/gray but still a formal floor length gown. I refuse to show my arms and I want to be comfortable. So I say go for it. It will be chilly and you will be be beautiful.

I think if it would make you more comfortable, then go for it! BUT, also make sure you take some pics without it. It's amazing what a good photographer can do, and the right poses! There are some poses that look rediculous in RL, but translate awesome to photos. For example, why do you think all the red carpet poses involve the hand on the hip and elbow sticking out?? Makes the arms look way thinner and less noticeable. Do you have straps on your dress? I found certain straps totally detracted from my arms.

I wore a cardigan with my wedding dress. I got compliments all night. I am taking dress pics eventually and wearing one with color. Our wedding was not formal. We wanted a cozy feeling. The bridesmaids wore cardigans and the groomsmen wore sweaters.

I'm not very fond of my arms either so I opted for a bolero. I was really comfortable all night and loved my pictures. Depending on the look you're going for, I think both cardigans and boleros are good options.

Thanks for the insight, everyone! I'll check out a matching jacket but I just dont' want anything too formal. My dress is fitted at the top and flowy at the bottom and has a casual, laid-back feel... I still have a while to figure this out, though lol
