Be helpful-give a money saving hint!

Okay, to save our reputation as not-so-mean-girls, post at least one money saving tip here that a bride on a budget can use.

My tip is to consider downtown for your location.  The hotel prices can't be beat and with ceremony costs starting at $295 for a mid-week wedding, there is a wedding for every budget!

Bi-oh-rama
Now with more wedded bliss.

I don't get married often, but when I do, I do it in Las Vegas.

My photog is letting us split up the hours we have him.  That way we aren't paying him for when we don't really need him (during the ceremony since no outside photogs are allowed).  He's coming for a strip tour before the ceremony for 3 hours, and then back to the reception from 9pm to 1am.

We are using fake rose petals for our aisle runner (half the price of real) and not having reception centerpieces (maggiano's provides 3 votives on the table, which will be fine)

I am doing my own Make-Up. My BM's are going their own hair and Make up (which they are OK with).

Tuxes-guys are not wearing vests and can wear whatever black shoes they want/feel comfortable in.

Bargain with your vendors. The worst they can say is no. I'm getting 5 hours of reception time for the same price as 4 and they lowered the minimum for me. I knocked $120 off my videographer. My photographer made a package for me that saved me $200 over his standard packages.

Design your own invites. This may be not be possible for everyone, but I reeeally wanted pocketfold invites, but even on Etsy they were at least $5 per invite. I did the design myself, and ordered the materials seperately. I got the paper printed at a local print shop and I will be assembling everything myself. Total cost: approx $2 per invite.

What a great idea...love this thread!

Ditto PP-- sign up for Groupon AND LivingSocial and stalk them the year or so before your wedding.  You can save $$ on spa visits (bridesmaid gift, anyone?), lunches, dinners, and shows.  Good place to look for deals on pre-wedding meals and/or event/experience-related gifts for your wedding party and/or parents.

Used wedding dress sites can help you save...if you stalk them long enough and have an idea of what your dress measurements are (hint: go to a tailor or invest in a tailor's measurement tape and to do it yourself.)

I got my dress off ebay from a bride with similar measurements to mine (she was a bit taller, but I figured it's better to be too long than too short!) The only thing I have to do is get it cleaned and I don't like the bustle, so I'm getting that redone.

It's a gamble, but it paid off for me, saved me more than half of what I would have paid for the same dress new.

Smartervegas.com - great deals on hotel rooms
Tix4Tonight - great deal on day-of show tickets

In-suite receptions can save lots of $$$, works well if you have a small-ish guest list.

Ditto on the used dress. I got my designer dress for $1,300, brand new it would have been $4,500. The girl had it originally listed for $1,800 but I was able to talk her down, and it is seriously like brand new. Just go to stores and find the one you love, and then look for it used online. www.preownedweddingdresses.com/">www.preownedweddingdresses.com is a great site!

Also, if you are flying out on Delta, sign up for the Delta Skymiles card, if you are approved you can use the 20,000 miles for the flight and you also get your first bag checked for for free as well as whoever else's is on your itinerary. I actually just signed up over lunch, we'll use the miles toward our HI honeymoon flight and we'll get our Vegas bags checked for free! FI is going to sign up too.

If you can, try and go to the bridal show. We got a great deal ($699, from $1,100) for a photobooth. There's other great deals to be had at bridal shows, avoid the "contests or win a trip" scams.

Ditto PP on just asking your venue for deals, we really did got some yesses and small bargins from just asking.

Also, sign up for players cards! We've had so many great deals from hotels from comp rooms to free buffets. This past trip alone,  we went from comped room @PH to $200/night in Panorama suite. I had signed up previously for Encore/Wynn card, but had forgot it, went to get another and was told I had 2 free buffets to Wynn!!! Yummy especially b/c it was free!!!! I used my Total Rewards card (Caesars properties) to shop at Miracle mile shops and got 10% off Tous to buy my diaper bag there, saved $20.
