ALoha Ladies!
I leave for Maui in FIVE days and getting Maui'D in TEN days. Yesterday was the Vietnamese Tea Ceremony as FlygirlMeg posted (thank you for all your wonderful wishes on the tea ceremony day!) It was a bit nerve wracking picking up party foods in the morning prepping and making sure we had everything set. By the time I had finished getting ready and put on my traditional gown I had a billion butterflies in my stomach. I had to stay in the bedroom while Danish Man and his family proceeded into the house, once everyone was settled my mother came and fetched me and brought me out. I felt like a goat being led out to be sold. In a way I was..... lol. The groom's side brings gifts for the bride's side of the family. In my case Danish Man's family brought fruits, champagne, pastries and cookies.
I will say that it is true, for when you see the face of the person you love everything is ok, no more butterflies. As soon as I got out to the open space I looked immediately for Danish Man, and I felt better. I wasn't nervous anymore and I would look just at him. The ceremony went splendidly, we offered tea to our parents and elders and in return they gave us their good blessings and gifts. (Leia I did not wear the hat, my mom says I could go without, but Danish Man did). Vietnamese tradition calls for the bride to receive jewelry, and I want to say my taste in jewelry is completely different from my mother and grandmother. So all of the stuff I got yesterday is being out into the safety box at the bank.
SO I guess in some part of the world Danish Man and I are already married. Hahaha....best gift we received yesterday, a new coffee/espresso/latte maker! Our plain jane coffee maker is broken so his parents bought us a new one.
Now without further ado, here's a link to the picasa album I made for wedding project and dress pics. ENJOY!

It sounds like such a beautiful ceremony. How excited only 5 days until maui and getting married!!!!!!!! I hope you have a great time and a perfect wedding day.
It sounds like it was a really lovely ceremony.
I've found most of my friends forgo the hat, too. They were having multiple ceremonies in one day and didn't want to mess up their hair.
I want more pics of you and Danish man in traditional garb. You guys look great!
I haz a planning bio
Coco: Be careful what you wish for I may be posting up massive numbers of pics from Maui. I know I should leave you all alone but I'm addicted to you all.
Jaycee my parents don't considered us married since we have a traditional American ceremony to get through. But when my older sister did her tea ceremony to them she was married. My brother in law is Chinese so they didn't do an American wedding.

Still here and still fabulous!
I was just thinking that it's kind of nice to already have some experience with that moment of being super nervous and then coming out to see Danish-man. It gives you experience for getting Maui-d!! I wonder if maybe now you won't be AS nervous beause you've had a taste of that already.
Also - thank you for posting all those Picasa pics!! you guys have really done so much work and I love the detail you're putting into everything. I think your guests will feel very appreciated. And, I'm also super impressed with Danish-man's wood craft ability. I had no idea he made those frames himself!!!
P.S. - Is there a kiss or something following the tea ceremony, like in a traditional American ceremony? And - are you practicing your wedding kissing?
I will try to post as many pics of Maui as I can and may have to ask fellow knotties here to post pics in my place if I can't.
