Guilty Pleasure

I just got caught singing Taylor Swift at the top of my lungs in my office (I didn't think anyone was around today.  Oops).  She's my guilt pleasure music.  I also have a guilty pleasure show :Operation Repo (it's so hilarious!).  What are some of your guilty pleasures?  Any embarrassing guilty pleasure stories to go along with mine?

Speaking of Taylor Swift...a little celebrity gossip. Are she and Jake Gylenhal together? I saw them on a cover of a magazine at the pharmacy.

I adore Taylor Swift. I really wanted to get tickets to see her in TO this July, but I couldn't justify the expense and the time spent to go see her when I already saw her this past May.

My guilty pleasure is full of nerdy things. I'm a closet geek. I just started roleplaying Cthulu with my uncle and his friends (I'm the only girl and the only one under 30. Awkward). I am obsessed with Star Wars, and I know more about James Bond than most guys I meet.

I also really love stuffed sharks. I have a small collection of them. True story.

EDIT: Hazel, that's what I've seen all over the place with celeb gossip. I normally don't pay attention to celeb gossip, but I do follow Taylor Swift.

I frickin' love Taylor Swift and I don't care who knows it.  I know every word to the Speak Now album.

Reality TV is one of my guilty pleasures.  There are several shows I don't admit to watching.

I will hop on the loving T-Swizzle bandwagon! She's so great!

My guilty pleasure is food network - I watch it every time that BF isn't home . . . and when he gets home he mocks me for always having it on. Good times.
Also, 80's rock ballads - I love them and know waaay too many of the words. If anyone comes into the lab on weekend they will find me singing it to my bacteria. That is embarrassing.

Man, I just don't get it - I find Taylor Swift so annoying, and her songs so tween-angsty.  At least the ones they play on the radio, I have no desire to hunt down more of them.

I read romance novels - the more graphic and dirty, the better.

That's kind of what I like about her.  Her songs accurately reflect who she is.  And I admire her ability to be so open with her personal life.

Basically, I think she seems wholesome and sweet, which is a refreshing change.

I hate Taylor Swift because she's with Jake Gyllenhaal. It's just sooo bizarre. Some of her music is ok. I think she's a good song-writer but she sucks at singing. Ok, sorry. Enough of that.

Guilty pleasures? Hm, I love trashy tv (i.e. Cheaters, Jersey Shore, etc.) whenever I get the chance to watch it.

I love 90's pop like Britney Spears, 'Nsync and the Backstreet Boys.

I kind of feel that way about Taylor Swift.  I have periods where I really like her or really dislike her. When I first heard of her, "Our Song" was really popular, and I found it so annoying. But I heard other songs by her like "Teardrops on My Guitar" or "TIm McGraw" and I found that I liked those a lot. Now I'm back in the annoyed phase, because I haven't been impressed by her latest stuff. She actually played at an event for my school about 6 months before she hit it big. Now I wish I would've gone to the event to see her for free. Music aside, I do find her very pretty.

Oh, I don't have a problem admitting it here.  I just meant that I don't really tell my friends and family.  But yeah,  The Bachelor, ANTM, 16 and Pregant and Teen Mom, Rock of Love, pretty much anything you can think of.  I'm such a sucker for those shows.

I also watch probably more than a healthy amount of wedding-related TV.  I don't like Bridezillas very much, but I love Say Yes to the Dress, Platinum Weddings, My Fair Wedding, Girl Meets Gown, Rich Bride Poor Bride, and now Jilted?.  I think that behavior will continue even after I get married.

Wow... this post makes me sound like I do nothing but watch TV.  That's the not the case, though...  I swear...  I don't have a problem...

Hmmm... well, I'd say vampire novels (like ones by Laurell K Hamilton or Charlaine Harris, though the LKH ones are a little too smutty for me lately).

Also right now my Christmas music. I love Mariah Carey's (first) Christmas album. I love it as much now as when I bought it in 1994. I will say I sang her version of "Joy to the World" at karaoke last year and it brought the house down.

My other guilty pleasures are Glee and pop music (like Christina Aguilera). I really want to see Burlesque, too, but I need to find someone to go with me.

I also love 80s ballads, pop music, and country. I sing at the top of my lungs in my car on a daily basis. Trashy TV is a favorite of mine too, Jersey Shore, Teen Mom, and I especially love Is She Really Going Out With Him?

Yeah, that's a common perception.  And I'm sure it's true in some cases, but overall I think romance novels get a bad rep.  You don't have to be miserable and lonely to read these books.  I certainly am neither pathetic nor sad nor miserable nor lonely - a very happy, self-confident, social person with a fantastic boyfriend CAN enjoy those books!

I've always read just about anything I put my hands on - I read Shakespeare by the time I was 13 years old, and the entire Qur'an by the time I was 16.  I started off enjoying young adult fiction with a slightly romantic twist as brain candy between more intellectual books when I was around 14 years old, and then I accidentally ended up reading one book that had a lot of sex in it - probably shouldn't have been placed in the Young Adults section.  I remember being scandalized, but it was intriguing and exciting, so I was eventually borrowing romance novels that didn't have graphic covers so my parents wouldn't freak.

I credit romance novels with a lot of my sexual confidence and openness.  I highly recommend them to anyone - it's like a romantic comedy movie like "27 Dresses", but where they don't fade to black at the good parts!
