Wedding invitation wording

I been doing some research on the invitation wording but I'm getting myself confused now but here's my situation. I'm catholic but my fiance is not (he has never been baptized either) and we're getting married in a catholic cathedral. We have decided that we're not having a mass so I know not to include "at the nuptial mass" on invites but can I still include "in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony"? I want to order my invitations soon but wanted to make sure I word it correctly. Thanks!

Re: Wedding invitation wording

  • i dont think its a sacrament if one person isnt baptized.   agape will give you the right answer when she posts.
  • You invite them to attend the wedding, not the sacrament of ,marriage as your FI isn't baptized

This. Plus, many Catholic churches require he be baptized Catholic. The church we picked gave me the 3rd degree because we didn't live in the same town, let alone go to church every week. I told the priest I work every other weekend (I'm an NA) and he even gave me grief then!

  • Catholics can marry non-Baptized, it is not a parish by parish thing. It is considered a natural marriage.

Both of the couple have to be baptized in order for it to actually be a sacrament.
  • For the church that we are getting married in, they only require that one of us be Catholic (me), so in other words it's best not to include "in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony" since only one of us is Catholic and to just use basic format for the wedding invitation?
