April 2012

Just in case anyone else is trying to plan their wedding in the French Quarter next April, I found out this week that French Quarter Fest will be the weekend of April 14th.  When we originally set our wedding date, the coordinator at our venue wanted to schedule around the festival because of all the issues we would have from the crowds, and she thought the festival was going to be the following week but apparently that date was not firm yet.  Thank goodness she still had the following week open since she thought that was when the festival was going to be, and the other vendors we had booked were all able to change the date!  And thank goodness I wasn't bothering with save the dates and didn't have anything printed yet.  But I still had the hassle of changing the date and a whole buttload of stress yesterday while I was trying to work everything out and waiting for the other vendors to let me know whether they were still available!

Wanted to spread a word to the wise in case anyone else was trying to set a date in the French Quarter in April.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.

Good idea to share this here. My Jan 2012 wedding was going to be on 7 Jan, but that is the weekend of the NCAA championship football game, so we changed it. Talk about a bad time to be having a wedding downtown. We'd spend the entire time in traffic!!!

When I was picking a date, I spoke to someone at the St. Louis Hotel and she gave me a run down on dates I'd probably want to stay away from...March 17th - St. Patricks Day, March 31st - NCAA Final 4 weekend, April 7th - Easter Weekend, April 14th - French Quarter Fest, and April 28th - end of the Jazzfest..Needless to say, I picked March 3rd..after Mardi Gras and before everything else.

We also tried to avoid all events as much as possible, but if the Saints go into the playoffs they could have playoff game at home on Jan 14th.

I'm getting married on the 14th and have been hearing this for months from my FI and family, saying I better have a TV set up somewhere. (IMy parents and other family members have season tickets so, I hate to say I hope not)

I guess if the Saints go into the playoffs, it'll be a good problem to have, in a way. I'll want a TV set up too!
