Bridesmaid Dresses: David's Bridal or not??

I keep debating and I still don't know what to do!
My friend is flying is from London so I figured we'd look at bridesmaid dresses with her and my MOH while she's in the US.
I just thought David's Bridal might be easiest (and least expensive) but.....
I also wish we were going to a nice boutique or something. We're going on a Saturday and I just picture DB being chaos and madness, haha.

I think I've already said this here but my girls are living in:
London, Long Island, LA, CT, FL, and NY.

Am I making it harder on myself by NOT doing David's Bridal ???

Honestly, DB is probably cheap and convenient for them so I totally understand where you're coming from.  But you're right when you say you won't have the same awesome experience you'd have if you were shopping in a smaller salon.  And all DB dresses really do look the same, sorry.

IMO, I'd get BM dresses at DB before I'd get my bridal gown there, BY FAR.

However, you do have lots of alternatives.  I ended up finding a dress for my girls and ordering from Pearl's Place - all the dresses are coming to me and I'll just deliver them myself when they arrive.  I got a Bill Levkoff, which is carried by TONS of boutiques and it really wasn't *that* hard for my long-distance BMs to track down the dress and try it on.  So don't think your only option is DB - I know Alfred Angelo is also retailed at TONS of places all over, and I love their gowns.

    Good luck :)

I've been a BM is 6 weddings...none of them local and none of the dresses came from DB.  The girls just had to call in their measurements and the dress was ordered.  You usually have to sign a waiver saying you are okay with the size of the dress that they are ordering for you.
David Bridal definitely has a large range of prices, but you can also find relatively inexpensive dresses at boutique bridal stores.  If you have a BM that you are concerned about how a dress looks on them sometimes there are local boutiques that will carry the dress near the location of the girl.
The wedding I'm in on Sept 4, the dresses are THREAD, the bride ordered them in NJ, but I tried the dress on at a boutique in Boston.  If you have a designer that you love and the girls are okay buying, I wouldn't limit yourself to DB just because they are all OOT.

Thanks girls. That's all I needed to hear, haha.  I just canceled the DB appointment. I couldn't mentally handle walking in there at noon on a Saturday.
Also, I'm going to be in a wedding in December and they're going with Bill Levkoff dresses so that makes me feel better that people have had good experiences with just going to their local salons/ Pearls Place.

Thanks so much ladies!  I actually feel better just from canceling that DB appointment.

And if your friend is flying into Boston and that's where you are trying on dresses...Bella Bridesmaid, Flair Brides Maid and Aria (all in Boston on Boylston or Newbury) all have really cute dresses and a wide range of designers and prices.  You might have to schedule appts though.

I went with Bill Levkoff dresses myself (we went to DB to look at BM dresses and was not impressed with the selection, in all honesty).  As PP said, many places carry Bill Levkoff, including online sites...I ordered mine from netbride.com, and the girls saved about $50 each over retail!

My girls are wearing Alfred Angelo. Two are in CT, one in NY and one is Cali so we didnt get them all from the same place and no one had any trouble at all.

And I've HEARD that DB dresses can be different colors when they aren't all ordered at the same time. Something about the company dyeing the fabric at different times and if it doesnt all come from the same batch it will look a little different. But I can't remember where I heard that so who knows if its even true.

I'm in a wedding 3 weeks after my own and we are doing DB. 10 girls, several states. We went to the DB in Danbury and it wasn't crazy madness at all. We had two associates and they were very kind and accommodating. We haven't ordered yet but our dress selecting experience was positive.

The reason we didn't order is because two girls out of NY/CT need to go and pick what dress they like (we had two to choose from. The bride doesn't need us to where the same.) The problem is DB says they sometimes cancel dresses with no warning and 8 of us could order and then in two months the other two girls could go and the dress my friend selected could have been discontinued.

We are waiting until we all have our correct sizes, dress, etc.

I agree with PP, you can find nicer dresses somewhere else without the hassel.  2 of my BMs tried their dresses in store and ordered them online. Their dresses came quicker than those that ordered from the bridal shops and were about $50 cheaper.

my girls got their BM dresses from DB and it was soo easy. Everyone ordered from the store that was closest to them, and they all came in in about a month and a half. Primarily, we used the store in Orange.

I've heard that the dye lot issue is mostly a rumor, and if there is any difference, its not noticable unless you truly examine it.

However, although it was easiest for BM dresses, I wanted a more personal boutique experience for my own dress.

I am another fan for Bill Levkoff (LOVE LOVE LOVE his dresses)!!!

I have been in plenty of weddings who used DB dresses, it really does depend on the location you go to & when you go. I have had both good & bad experiences.

IMO, I would go to another salon where you can get legit, professional (without question) service!
