Family drama

Anyone else out there having so much family drama with the wedding that there are days you wish that you would have just eloped?

I feel like that... some days I just have no idea why I put so much effort into a wedding when the people that you are including just can't seem to be happy no matter what you do..

I feel ya.  FMIL is driving me nuts.  I'm not really sure how to deal with it.  I have a feeling she'll back off on the day of the wedding but I'm not up for handling all the crap between now and December...

The true family drama didn't start up so much until the month of the wedding.  I seriously considered just cancelling the wedding and eloping!  The day before and the day of went just fine and after the fact I am glad that we had the wedding.  Just keep in mind that while you may not be able to see it right now, there is light at the end of the tunnel.  Believe it or not, our wedding was so fantastic, I don't really think about the drama that it created anymore.

Well it is good to know that I am not the only one. Is it just the mama's that can't let go of their boys? We are almost 2 months out now, and had to ask his sister and cousin to step down from the wedding party, because they set out to be just plain mean to me. They went on a nasty tirade on facebook, and his parents were so mad that we had to ask them not be in the wedding. It is apparent that they are not supportive in the slightest, and it is important that we have people who are happy for us, so against what we wish would happen, we had to ask them not to be in it. (This has been going on for about a year too...) My fiance is sick of it, I am sick of it, and now we are worried that because we asked them to do that, that we will suffer other consequences from them. The kicker is that the sister didn't even care about being asked to step down. I really think she didn't want to be in it. Ugh... I am just aggravated because my family is so supportive.  His parents expressed great concern for us even getting married, which just solidifies my stance that they just can't let him go..

What a bummer.  Sorry to hear that they are being so unsupportive.  It may sound mean but if they just can't get over the fact that the two of you are getting married and are happy together, just write them off as being crazy!  You knowwhat's best and unless they have legitimate concerns, I'd just forget about them.

Awwwwwww hunnie sooooo sorry to hear about the drama! I think we all go through it in some way or another. It just really sucks to be so close to this amazing day in both of your lives and have people who are supposed to be happy and excited be the exact opposite. Keep your head up and your eyes on the prize so to speak. You and your FI will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Don't worry, I've been experiencing this as well but it's looking like it's all going to turn out fine.  I'm just excited about getting married!

Thanks everyone! I just need to let it roll off.. I know, but sometimes it can be so hard when all you want to do is fit into your new family. I am glad to know that I am not the only one who is struggling with this. Makes me feel really good. :)

Ohhhhhhhh...Ohio.  Now it makes more sense. I'm a member of the facebook group "The state of Ohio, in general, sucks".  Those people are just crazy. ;)
