Sunday afternoon

It's after 4, and our movers haven't arrived, and the painters aren't done.  I want to pull out my hair.  We're going to be unpacking through the night just to get the stuff we need to start the week, I suspect.  I am so frustrated.

Distract me?  Please?

Re: Sunday afternoon

  • Sorry yo! That sounds like misery!

I am about to go to bed actually.
  • Darn it.  I should have started this thread an hour ago.  Of course, I was pacing and waiting for the movers and convinced that they'd show up at any minute.  Grr.
  • That's really, really frustrating Mica. I would definitely be talking to someone from the moving company; that's ridiculous. I just scheduled 2 house tours for this week. We're in the very beginning stages of looking, but there's one that we're both REALLY interested in. I think it's under contract though Undecided
  • The owners of the company are the ones doing the move.  There's no one higher to complain to.  :(
  • That's just frusterating.

Well i'm frusterated, FI's debt is worse than I thought, after we get married things are going to be so tight, there's no way we'll have enough money to even fix up the house and kids will probably be on the back burner for a few years.

  • I'm sorry Mica.  I'm glad they are here now though.

I'm watching the Craigslist movie on Lifetime.  DH put it on, the past out on the couch.  I'm not sure he is deep enough asleep for me to change the channel

  • Jill -- our house was under contract (very loosely) when I first saw it.  The seller's agent didn't think the contract would stick, so she was willing to show it.  She was right.
  • Hi ladies.  Mica I hope they show up soon.  Ours have always come at the asscrack of dawn  since they were scheduled all day.   So hopefully it doesn't completely throw off your night.  And I hope you're able to find exactly what you need to unpack later.  Our boxes were such a mess with what was labeled and where.  I was missing my nice cookie sheets, cooling racks, and k-cup carousel after all the kitchen boxes were unpacked, and I finally found them in a box labeled "purses."

I'm just waiting for Oscars stuff to start and being lazy now.  I worked out earlier and went to church and Walmart so now I'm good to sit around for the night.

They aren't here yet.  Any minute now, they told me.  Hmph.

My dog is getting anxious because I'm anxious.
  • Is TK wonky again?

  • This house is seriously amazing, and actually less than others that we've looked at, because it's not IN the city.  I've asked to schedule a showing, so we'll see.

  • We were supposed to move yesterday, but they moved it to today because they were running late with other projects.

I'm tempted to start an Angie's List account to write them up.  I don't think a poor Yelp review will cut it for how irritated I feel about this situation.
  • Wow, Jill, that's gorgeous.
  • jill that house is awesome....and such a low price!!!! boy houses are pricey up here :(
  • That house is gorgeous Jill!  The kitchen is a little funky for my taste with that paint, but that's an easy fix, unless you like it then it's easier.

  • I wish I could move into a house! *le sigh*

Mica, that's completely unacceptable for them to be this late. I mean, people have to work on Monday. Are they going to offer any compensation at all? Stay and help you unpack? It's total crap.
  • Yeah, when I showed Rick pictures I made sure to point out that it was just paint. But..yeah, I'm in love. Sigh.

And I'm with Snippy on this Mica, what BS
  • Nice house Jill

  • The current owners certainly like bright colors.  Interesting checkerboard pattern choice.  And the bright yellow bathroom!  Hopefully you like bright colors too.  If not, at least paint is pretty cheap.  Just hope that your painters are faster than mine.  They underestimated how long all of our crown moulding and baseboards would take to paint.  Sigh.
  • I had a long discussion with the owner when she pushed back the move, telling her that my Mondays are hellish, and I really didn't want to be moving Sunday.  She reassured me that the moving would be the fastest part.

I'm sure that she'd be happy to help unpack (her rates are, of course, hourly).  Right now, however, I am so irritated, I'm not going to want her or her employees to be near me for any longer than absolutely necessary.
  • Yikes Mica. I'd be beyond frustrated by now.

    Jill- That house is gorgeous!

We're in the beginning stages of looking at houses right now too.  My dad just sent me a bunch of listings. I love having a dad as a realtor.
  • Mica, my dad was a contractor for years-I have a free, speedy painter anytime I need one Smile
  • Looking at houses is fun.  I definitely recommend searching every house that looks decent on google maps so you can see street views different views of the house.  Granted it can be outdated (if you google map our house there are so many trees you can't even see the house - not like that anymore) but you can get an idea what's across the street, how close to a busy road, etc.  It was super helpful for us when we were looking from the other side of the country.  Some houses we originally lived were across from main shopping centers, or next to big power lines, etc.

  • Hi all,

Mica, sorry about the movers.  totally sinks!

We just got home from our weekend away snowmobiling.  Holy snow storm!  We got over 8 inches between Friday and Saturday.  The snowmobiling was delightful.  It made me sad to load the sleds on the trailer this afternoon and come home knowing that it was probably the last ride of the year.

  • Afternoon ladies! We put an offer in on a house last week and it was accepted. :) It is a short sale, though, so we have a long while before anything is finalized and the keys are actually in our hands. Bummer. We're trying not to get our hopes up in case someone comes in with an offer way higher than ours.
  • Erin -- we closed on our short sale 60 days after the offer was placed.  Not every short sale takes 9 months.
  • WTF. Lucy just pooped in the house! She didn't even ask to go outside first! When I dragged her over to look at it and tell her bad girl (no spanking!) she turned around and snapped at me!
  • Uh oh, Snippy.  Why is she upset?  Still angry that she had to leave the castle?
  • I have no idea. I am really upset.
