Food shame

What are things youve done with food (like, eating. come on now) that while it was delicious as hell youre sorta ashamed of? This is like, food confessions.

You know those philidelphia chip dips? My favourite thing to do (though I havnt in many years) is when you start to get to the bottom, break up a ton of chips into the dip, mix them around until theyre all coated and then eat it with a spoon. Lol so sad!

What about you? If you dont have one, what is something generally strange you love to eat?

Re: Food shame

  • I've done a progressive fast food dinner....  so horrible for you!  Fries from McDonald's, burger from wendy's, jamocha shake from arbys.  Sadly these things are all located within a block of eachother in my hometown so it happened more than once.  Shh...don't tell anyone
  • I'm kind of a picky eater, so I don't do anything super weird with my food. I honestly can't think of anything.

I did eat an entire sleeve of ritz crackers today though. Blah.
  • Oh uhm...oatmeal muffin mix, combined with water was a favourite of mine there for a while! I don't know how weird that is, but I don't know anyone else who's done it.
Last night's dinner: elbow macaroni with butter and parmesan cheese.  Not really that big of a deal, but I made/ate so much that I had trouble finishing it.  I had an awkward amount of pasta in the package, so I just made it all.  *sigh*  I had oatmeal for breakfast to make myself feel better this morning (I really, really wanted a bagel).   ETA: I had a good 1-2 TBSP of butter, and a LOT of cheese.  Mmmm it was so good.

I LOVE THIS! I prefer it with the kraft parmesan cheese. Even when I was a kid, I ate this.

Another weird one I like. Theres this local bakery that my family has been going to since my mom was a kid. Her grandma taught her this and she taught it to me - butter a slice and sprinkle on grated romano cheese. It is honest to god one of the tastiest snacks of my life.

<div>So that it was slightly less watery than it was when I was actually making muffins. So, somewhere in between?</div>
  • Butter-cheese pasta is not weird, JCB, it's delicious.

I like crusty Italian bread with mayonaisse and parmesean cheese sprinkled on top.

Another goodie - french fries dipped in mayo (specifically, hellmans). SO GOOD - the best were old style wendys fries (not the gross ones they have now).

<div>Well, that's not weird in Canada =P Same with ketchup on stuff. My SIL thought my BFF was joking when she asked for the ketchup to put on her mac and cheese. Apparently, it's not that common down here.</div>
  • In Puerto Rico, mayonaisse-ketchup dip for fries is the thing to do. They call it mayo-ketchup. I was in heaven.

I also used to love to get McDonald's fries and dip them into a chocolate shake. I haven't done that since I was in high school, lol. It was awesome.
  • edited April 2012

When I was a kid I used to dip my chicken nuggets in a mix of honey and ketchup. This started at McDonalds.

Now I am extremely picky with what I eat.

ETA: FI is eating a bacon, egg, mozz cheese and mayo sandwich as we speak.

  • Bread with peanut butter spread on it, then sprinkle chocolate chips on it. Fuuck yeah.

Cottage cheese with gravy from pot roast mixed in.

Also, in HS, we used to dip pizza in vodka. We thought we were being sneaky. we weren't. It is a sure fire way to get me to puke, though.

I prefer eating my meals out of a bowl if at all possible so that I can use a spoon and get a little of everything in every bite. I have this plastic bowl I use for dinner atleast 3-4 nights a week, its so sad.

We do, and it has turned me into a salsa snob. We go to a specific taqueria for breakfast, I can tell if the salsa is from last night or if it was made fresh that morning. And theirs is my favorite.
I also have a weird habit of the last bite needing to be the best.  I apparently eat very deliberately, as FI has noticed in the past 4 years.  If the last bite of a sandwich has crust on it, for example, I won't eat it.  The last bite of chili must have the perfect proportion of chili, cheese, and sour cream.   Does anyone else do this?  Is this some kind of learned trait because where in the world would I pick this up from?
    Posted by yaga13
Its like youre me. I totally do this. If I have a really nice piece of meat (nice bit of char, good looking, etc) I leave it till last. Or if something has cheese on it, the piece with the most cheese is for last. I get sad when the last bite isnt the best.
